18 hrs to florida, ss/tc high wing, no problems here, nice smooth ride. Had a few racers challenge me throughout the trip though. killed them all except 1 (05 mustang cobra) wait til i get a stage 3 turbo +mods, then well see who would win.

I know. I have been told a lot that New Year's at NY is pretty bad. I just wanna experience something different. I wish there was not a huge wild crowd. Though my GF and I have second thoughts about going on new years. I do wish to visit the city one day, but perhaps on some other season.

I have vacation for more than a week at the end of the year so we were just planning on goin somewhere. NYC was an option. Any other suggestions?

I do appreciate your input on the "how comfy is a long trip", keep em coming

But I do wanna drive somewhere!!

I did a 24 hour Laredo tx to LA ca a couple of years ago. It wasn't too bad, I also do a yearly trip back to TX from IA. Love that KS turnpike......

Me and the wife were thinking of NY but for christmas not new years. Looking for a place outside the city to stay at then see if we can take the train to the city....

I live just outside of Philadelphia and drive back and forth to and from school alot. So far 26000 miles in 11 months. My school is 590miles away and it is near Florence, SC. It takes me a little under ten hours normally, but due to all the rush and what not I95 from terrible yesterday and it took me 13 hours....Car is comfy, but then again I did'nt have any passengers in the car and I always use cruise control when there isn't any traffic. But the gas mileage is great!

I drove from South Jersey to Cincinnati Ohio, it was about a 12 hour trip and I was comfortable while driving in the Cobalt.

the city is great, but it's extremely hectic. if you really want to enjoy it, get a hotel room somewhere in jersey around hoboken or secaucus and just take the train over. from secaucus there's busses running about every 10 minutes, and it's maybe a 10-15 minute ride. trust me you'll enjoy it much more if you don't have your car there. couple minutes on the train and you can get off anywhere you want, and you don't have to worry about parking, which is an absolute nightmare, and driving in general sucks there. I used to go to the city every weekend to hang out, and walk around. there's a million things to do. just better without a car, especially if you don't know where you're going.

gps gets confused down there also. i made a wrong turn once, went through the battery tunnel, (which isn't cheap) had to go back through, then went through an ez pass only lane which wasn't really marked (maybe it was but between people trying to run you off the road and 2 million different ways to go it's confusing) so i had to give the crooked cop 25 dollars to let me through, then i had to go back through the tunnel. needless to say about 50 dollars later i got through the tunnel and on the right road

Not near as nice as my 535i (12 hours in that thing is a breeze ) but I have had far worse cars for long trips. Seats are ok, suspension is a bit choppy on the goat paths that pass for roads here but overall, I wouldn't sweat it if I had to take a 10 hour trip.

NYC traffic on the other hand....I have seen it, never driven in it (nor do I want to)
It seems like all the cabbies and bike couriers are suicidal.

I've driven to Tulsa, OK and back once..Nothing compared to everyone else. It's only 2 hours each way, but it wasn't bad at all, especially being lowered.

Make sure you have some kind of roadside assistance to help with tow and etc. in case you break down and Rental coverage on your car insurance policy in case you are in a wreck that renders your car undrivable. You would be suprised how many people take road trips without even thinking about possible bad scenarios like these and then they find themselves in a situation like one of these and then they're fvcked.

That's quite a drive! Your school is too far away, how often do you go there?

Bahah... there's nothing on the ground here yet. I can't wait... I got Blizzaks for the SS. I was on the highway yesterday though and the car got loaded up with salt and dirt. It looks disgusting.

Yeeeesh, my favorite part of winter driving

Worst part is, it gets too cold to wash it without freezing everything shut

Just got back from a 2000 mile trip in 10 days. After work I hit the road and drove overnight 890 miles in 17 hrs from South Florida to Tennessee sleeping 3 hours in the front seat. 6 Days later I drove 260 miles in 4.5 hrs. Then 2 days later I drove 860 miles in 18hrs(traffic accidents) back to South Florida.

I was pretty comfortable and I have a lean bum with little meat.

If you can move on the stock pirelli's then there couldn't have been much snow lol, i cant get back into the garage with mine if there is more than a few inches.

Blizzaks should make ur car a tank in the snow , the only thing i worry about are the ice chunks that fall off other car's and big trucks, would take the front lip off the car Errr. My car hasn't ever seen salt , but if my 99 sunfire (sister's car for $250 8) ) takes a **** i won't have much of a choice hehe. It was cheaper to buy her car than a winter tire package, and it came with new snow's so i couldn't pass it up.
