oil change interval v.s mileage

i know this has been a long time discussion over many forums and asked different ways sorry if its a repeat, i dont drive nearly as much as i use to (maybe 8k miles a year) i use mobile 5w-30 and a factory oil filter. my main question is about my oil filter and whats it doing over time. i totally belive in the 6 month syn oil change interval or even higher mileage but as long as i can rack up the miles in 6 months. currently i did my last oil chnage dec 4th and have only driven 4500 miles im sure the oil is ok but im worried the filter may not filter be 100% up to par i may start changing the filter every 3k miles and do oil every 6k miles as long as continue to drive this little. Does the oil life monitior actually "record/keep track of" cold starts, intown driving, driving habits such as reving stop and go and long idol periods in traffic? I know a 5$ dollar filter every 6-8 months would pretty much answer my question here just wanted some of your opinions also thanks?

i believe the oil life monitor just reads by how long your care is on bc last year i drove 2k and it was down to 25% so idk could just be my car

I tested this on someone else's car recently. The oil went 14k miles before the oil life reminder was at 5%. It's build off how many times the cams turn and habits and a bunch of **** that goes into it. Basically if it says 0 change it. If you still have 5% the engine goes boom gm will still cover it cause your still within limits. But also keep in mind this is an oil life "reminder" not a always go by me bs. Mainly for women just like tire pressure sensors. Woman can't reset either so they get annoyed and take it in. Most should I say

i changed mine every 10, i thought most people change regular oil every 4k nowadays so i dont know why someone would change synthetic oil at 5k

5k because it lasts me a good long while because i dont drive it all that often so its good to get the old oil out.

and I use Royal Purple... Mobil 1 is also fantastic. NOT STARTING that one here!

if you really want to know EVERYTHING about oil go to bobistheoilguy.com

Have y'all ever wondered why they put 5k or 3 months? Think about it the oil at the store doesn't have expiration dates on the bottles
