Painted my Bowties

I just couldn't stand the ugly gold bowties anymore so I painted them black. I am going to see how well the Kylon plastic paint does before I clear coat them. I masked the chrome edge off with that blue painters tape and took some 600 grit sand paper to rough the plastic up so the paint would stick better. I then took laquer thinner and cleaned any wax/grease/grime off the emblem before I painted. I painted one coat and let it dry, wet sanded it with 600 grit and put a second coat on them. I think they tured out good.
Sorry about the water spots. My car was kind of clean yesterday but it rained last night. I like to black look.....they are hard to see from a distance which I like also.
EDIT - New Pictures and yes I know that they can come apart but masking was easy and I didn't want to upset the factory bonding.

you can pry apart the bowtie, no need to mask

Welcome to the club. I had my bowties painted quite a while ago and I think the body color with chrome out line is the only way to go.

Nice work. I plan on doing mine very soon. Just have to wait for the sunburst orange paint to get here.
