actually some kids at that age can handle that ype of car... its not the car ur drivin its the driver... most cars can do 100 mph some just get there faster than others... and actually my insurance on the vette wasn't quite that bad at all... I got 10% off for a 4.0 gpa in high school... attended a driving school that allowed me to recieve another 10% off and after going the first year without a tickett I got 5% more off... so I was saving 25% on my insurance... Just because most young driver aren't good and portrays that stereotype amongst us all doesn't mean everyone is that way...

How can you NOT realize you hit gravel at 50?

Hate to break your bubble, AWD is not going to save you on that one either.

I still can't get over how people think AWD is a saving grace. Anyone who knows anything about cars will know this is not the case. Sure it will help in some cases and give you better traction to get moving, but when you lose it, you lose it. AWD does NOT help you slow down or stop any faster and it certainly won't save you from this same outcome again.

You are calling us ignorant. We aren't the ones blazing down a gravel road and totaling our cars, then thinking an AWD one will keep us safe. That makes you ignorant. Maybe it's for the best if you wrap your car around a tree, and have to spend a couple months in the hospital, learn to walk/talk/etc again? Maybe you'll learn.

Also, we are not mind readers, but sorry about your father.

I'm thinking maybe it's time for an STi!
Byt eh sounds of your maturity and driving skills, the only AWD you should be driving is an '85 subaru legacy, not an STi

Heh, this thread is funny in a sad sort of way. /agreed though. Instead of investing in All Wheel Drive, invest in some common sense.

2nd time ive read this thread and it is mind boggling to me seeing that this kid is basically shrugging of he just totaled his brand new car, could have potentially died, and is opting to go buy (or get someone ELSE to buy) another car that is 10k more expensive then the one he just totaled....

must be easy wreaking a car you probably didnt pay for and go buy another car you probably wont pay for...i hope you cant get insured :

This is a tough situation...
I feel really bad for you because you just have no idea how bad you are making yourself sound. You sound like an ungrateful, STUPID kid with poor driving skills and little attention spent on the road.
You screwed up....you wrecked that poor poor car.

Buy an STi...I doubt you'll live long enough to really enjoy it. Please continue to drive on the back roads at that speed though, atleast you'll have no collateral fatalities.

All I gotta say is, stop screwing it up for us good 16 year old drivers who want a car like the Cobalt SS/SC. I plan on getting one, but I'm not gonna have people drag me down about it because of other people's stupidity.

it's time to choose

Now that the court has ruled that it was an conditions/equipment issue, and not driver error, considering someone else had done the EXACT same thing in a black taurus about 500 feet up the road the next day...

It's time for a new car.

Choices:

70's muscle car, looking at maybe a corvette, nothing expensive with matching numbers or anything, just a 427 or a 454 and a 4 speed he he he.

Supra or something similar with big WHP, 600+

SRT-4 Neon, preferebly with stage 2 + toys

'04-'05 STi, I really don't want to spend 35k, so no new '06.

Evo, maybe, someone at school already has one, so I don't want to be a copycat.

Sky redline, but the lack of a roof scares me.

and finally, we have: maybe another cobalt.. but that's too painful, for now.

I don't want to hear bitching about how I fucked up, I already know, believe me. Yes I was going too fast, I usually drive under 30 on the said road, but I was an idiot, late for work, and drove excessively fast on the wrong tires, at the wrong time.

Oh and goddamn that E55 is fast, ridiculously fast. like 3.8 0-60 fast.

I want suggestions on a new car, not bitching from envious people.

Right, I'll drive a moped instead of an E55.

I need something besides the e55 so that I can have a tuner car too, there's not much **** you can do to the E55 in your garage, it's all expensive thousands of dollars of upgrades.

So back to what I was saying. I want a car besides the benz that I can drive to school and not worry about all day and get an ulcer.

Ok you want a new car but don't want to spend 30k yet you look at an equally expensive EVO.

My advice.. Get yourself something more appropriate for the environment you are in. Go for a subaru WRX W/Turbo but not the STI. Then if you need performance later mod it. That way you can have something sporty ish. Drives good. And can be a sleeper car with mods.

How easily is the regular WRX 2.0L made into a beast?
