Rust on the under side of hood

was working on my car the other day and went to close my hood and felt a bubble on my finger, happened to be a rust bubble. got a patch around on inch long and a half inch were tiny rust is starting to form. figured i could just sand this out and put on some primer and paint it. does this sound about right? any other suggestions are accepted to thanks guys

Start by using a wire wheel. If you want it to look normal again after that, use a little spot putty on it. Block it out with 120, 320, 600. Prime it with self etch primer. Follow that with high build primer for about 3 coats. Block it with 800. Paint. Clear. Done

If you don't care about it's appearance too much skip the spot putty, high build primer, and all the sanding. Wire wheel it, self etch, paint, and clear. Make sure your surfaces are clean before you spray anything.
