SS S/C or Turbo 2.2L
The SS S/C was pre-built up for forced induction. It also has a better suspension, and the getrag tranny. I'd still prefer the 2.0L S/C. An intercooled T3 turbo on the 2.2L Should make around 220hp ballpark. I would say the turbo has the hp advantage, but with some tweeking... the 2.0L SC can easily make more power and will still perform better on the turns.
I checked a few sources and the SS S/C makes 217hp(NOT 205) at the wheels with premium fuel. Throw in a high flow drop in filter and it produces around 220hp.
I agree however that turbo has more potential. After all, it produces boost from a byproduct, whereas a supercharger has to be cranked. I do think that a well built turbo 2.2L with other suitable performance parts could give a stock SS S/C a good spanking. However, I beleive a well built SS S/C can run toe to toe with an STI. (Hopeful thinking)

turbos have to be cooled down after driving..... witch means you need a turbo timer that leaves the car running 10 minutes after you get out......if you dont have one you will screw up you engine and turbo..... i will stick to a supercharger there much more reliable..

You brought up interesting points with the suspension mods. The cost would be about the same, but my guess is that the 2.2L will not hold it's own in a turn compared to the SS. I think I'll stick with an SS.
