Newer cars are getting heavier and heavier with all that tech people seem to rave about.
Seems he wants to make more power though, and I wanted to send him in the right direction.
If you need the most bang for the buck power, get the SS T/C and do the GM Stage 1 tune. You'll spend so much more on a supercharged setup only to make the same power with less torque.
241hp in a sub-3000lb car is not slow at all, even today. Learn how to drive it in the power band.

I ran a 13.9 @ 105 with my GMS2 LSJ when it had like 20k on it. That was with a 2.2 60' time. A lot of performance cars are fast off the line because they make all of their power at a low RPM, but they still trap ~100. Anything 100+ is moving pretty good.
I do kind of want to take the car to the track again and see what it does with 110k on the clock lol. Maybe once the weather cools down a bit.

Lol I had a stage 2 and ur telling me there not slow. I ment for today's cars there slow. Idk what little cars you had in mine but nothing under 275hp popped in my head. Let's find a stage 2 that's modded to hell then race say a new v6/t4 mustang and watch it lose. Lots of other new little race cars from 25k-40k cuz that's what 90% of ppl buy are faster then A stage 2 ss like I said slow for today's cars. I didn't say a price or anything. Nowadays a 250-/+ hp stage 2 ss ONLY stage 2 will get beat by a lot of newer cars. The reason I bought 2 cobalts they beat more expensive cars, a stage 2 doesn't anymore. Like I wanted it too so I got a tc. Cali smog to tho, that secret turbo upgrade later

New V6 Mustang is a 5 second car, so it'd be close.
Still, the list isn't long. If you don't count pony/muscle cars, there isn't much out there right now that would beat it.
Stang* like u don't get fked by auto correct use your mind lol there are more I'm taking 1/4 miles since we are in America where 1/4 are what ppl judge on speed
. Really u think from 25k-40k the list isn't long?? Lol you must not look into other platforms US or Uk often.
Try 13.5 or 13.8 for a v6. Turbo is 14's

Name some. I can think of 4. The Focus ST would lose easily, along with the GTI. Golf R just came out. STI and Evo. The last three are at least $35k, so they are $10k MORE than the Cobalt was, so they'd better be faster. Why the eff would I look at cars in the UK? And even if I did, there aren't many more there, especially when you consider the cost.
Even if you include pony cars, pretty much just mustang. The camaro is ~14.4. Challenger even longer. To me, 4 cars is a short list.
Still close.

Decent cars, but slow as a grandma in a jazzy scooter.
I've never driven a GTI, just my Tiguan with the same engine. They're torquey, and I hear lots of fun to drive, but they just lack enough power to really be quick. The Golf R sounds like a hoot, but it's really expensive, and VW's are all but impossible to maintain on your own nowadays. My '09 Tiguan is one of the last that you can get a factory manual for without paying absurd subscription fees. That's all but a deal-breaker for me.

For me, I love my LSJ. I've owned both an LNF and two LSJ's and despite me kicking myself for not keeping the 4 door LNF, overall I enjoy the supercharged engine more. No, it will never be as fast as an LNF for the same money but I just like the overall feel and driveability of the SC. Also, as I've gotten older and have a young family, reliability is as important as speed. While I do intend to eventually do a ZZP stage kit and exhaust improvements, I will only be doing things that improve the car without sacrificing reliability.
One thing I've noticed lately. I get a lot of compliments on my car and I don't have much done visually to it. What I'm finding is that since it's been a few years since the last new Cobalt's hit the road, clean examples are getting harder to come across. People also seem to be getting over the fact that it's "just" a Chevy and appreciating it for the lines and looks it has. While understated, I feel the looks of these cars is spot on and have the styling has aged a lot better than a lot of its contemporaries.

While passing a construction truck hauling friggin stone (not tarped!!!!), a little kiddo thought he was racing me in his modified turbo saab....
I said what the hell, and pushed the pedal to the floor while in 3rd. He was stuck in my rear view mirror a bus or so back after that.
I thought the LSJ was fast when it had a turbo

A lot of younger guys in my area are either getting cobalts, looking for them, or appreciate them.. Although yesterday I saw a super riced out red SS with a fake stick on hood scoop, and those stupid rear side window louvers, and a fart can that sounded like, well, a fart, lol...
Had stock flexpipe on down pipe blow a hole in the bottom, sounded like hell. Took some 2" header wrap and wrapped a few layers over the hole and banded it. Quiet as can be. Effective temp fix till my midlength and catless get here Monday.
