CEL on GM Stage II?

I'm looking to do this air box mod but the sporatic nature of the CEL is a bit of a turn off. I've read quite a few pages of this thread and the CEL issue still seems unresolved. With regards to the injecor theory, has anyone lseen the CEL issue on an SS/SC with GM stage 2? I figure the larger injectors would help test this theory, and influence my decision to go through with this mod.

Thanks

I wasn't able to pull out the elbow above the airbox(the one that the mass air sensor is on) due to binding and jamming, so I returned my universal filter, and bought the K&N drop in, drilled a crap load of holes in my airbox and lid(filter wasn't installed at this time), and now I get pretty much the same effect. The holey airbox lid still holds the filter in perfect. No CELs. The only issue that I had with this mod is that in order to disconnect the airbox completely, and take off the mass air sensor, i had to remove the driver side headlight. This turned out to be more time consuming than I originally had planned. BUT, with that said, yes this thread helped, and thank you.

I have the AEM dry flow CAI with the GM Stage 2 tune. I have not had a CEL, but I also had a PCM update applied for CAI from GM.

Do any of the vendors listed on this site carry AEM Dryflow cleaner kits? I put mine in about 20k ago and I'm sure it's about ready for a cleaning.

I have the GM stage II package on my 06 SS/SC. I put in a Spectre air filter, secured it, and removed the bottom of the airbox. We'll see how it runs. No CEL thus far, keeping my fingers crossed

I would check their websites, if not the major AEM vendors carry it, not real expensive. Mine has been in for about as long and is due for a cleaning too.

You shouldn't get one, but if you do there is a PCM update from GM for a CAI.

Thats interesting, I didnt know they had an update for that. I guess it holds the warranty?

I'll have to look into doing that. As of yesterday I put in a Spectre air filter, secured it, and removed the bottom of the airbox. We'll see how it runs. No CEL thus far, keeping my fingers crossed

Yes, the GMPP Chevy dealer in my area did it...for free I might add while I was getting an oil change and an alignment. If you do a search you should find the post about it. I also posted and sub'd to the thread. If not PM me and I'll dig up my paperwork on it, let you know what the flash was.

Just wanted to add that I've had the AEM Dryflow w/Injen Hydroshield (airbox mod) for over 20k miles and still no codes or other issues!

It is somewhat due for a cleaning.

alright so i have a problem. i just did the airbox mod with the aem dry flow filter. I did not remove the airbox, just took my stock one out, and installed the other one (just slid on with some force) then drilled the hole and tightened the clamp. I left the air box bottom off, and secured with a piece of plastic and some strip ties. i took it out for a test drive and couldnt hear my supercharger at all..i did just get a borla xr-1 muffler installed which is pretty loud but i thought i would be able to hear my supercharger. is there a step i missed?

Wow, old thread.

No, there is nothing to the air box mod. I can guarentee the issue is your loud muffler. Even people with aftermarket intakes cant hear their blowers when they install loud ass exhausts.

I said loud exhausts. I have a Corsa as well (its far from being considered a "loud" exhaust), and hear mine just fine Actually, I ran the same intake as you for a few years.

The member who bumped this thread mentioned he has a loud muffler. From the sound of it he modified his air box just fine (really no way to screw it up..... hopefully). Back in day I did the air box mod as well, but I used the K&N replacement filter. It made the blower whine louder, but nothing crazy. Add a loud muffler or catback, and it will be hard to hear the whine.
