Interior: How To: Install a Double-DIN Aftermarket Headunit in your 05-06 Cobalt SS
When I installed mine I used a dremel tool with a cutting wheel to cut the plastic around the inside of the support then just unbolted the metal piece in back. It was pretty easy. As far as the whole switch thing for bypassing the parking brake signal, you don't really need to do that. The guy at the audio store told me all you need to do is ground the parking brake signal wire coming directly out of the back of the unit. I did it on mine and it'll play movies just fine when I'm driving (not that I do that of course).
obvious troll is obvious.
One of my friends gave me **** for getting the 4-door and not the 2-door, and its been an inside joke ever since. Because that friend was a jackass. XD
And yes, the pioneer headunit wants you to disengage, and then reengage your e-brake. This proves to the system you didnt simply ground the wire. Which is exactly what you did.. so I guess only pioneer and other certain units do that. But I know this for fact.
Also, some units with GPS nav will shut off if it senses your car moving.

Non Amplified harness
I've got a Pioneer AVH-P1400DVD headunit im putting in my 05 SS/SC w/ Pioneer system, the Audio shop i bought it off of sold me a AXXESS XSVI-2103-NAV harness (which is NON amplified and I think it takes away door chimes and such) nothing they sold me came with a wiring diagram to tell me what's what...anyone know if theres a way to "amplify" this harness so it'll work with my stock sub and amp?
Also what's the black conector to the left of the light blue harness conector? (Not the Antenna adapter) is that Steering wheel controls?
Any luck with putting a relay in to bypass the parking brake?
Thanks for the help,
Ian

do you have the pioneer system stock in your car ? because if you do then you have an amp built in to your car. and you are not suppose to send an amplified signal to an amp . the way you have the speaker wires set up coming out fo the radio you are sending an amplified signal to the amp. the amps only needs a line level signal. i dont how long the amp will hang in there always ahving an amplified signal going to it.

i am wanting to install a aftermarket radio in my car as well but i work at best buy and we install radios and you are not suppose to sent an amplified signal to the amp, so i am still seaching for a solution. i am also a mechanic.
ur not supposed to but you can. and as long as your not retarded technically it wouldn't hurt at all. they do make harnesses for line level output for all year cobalts made thou if you are that concerned
so there is no worry about doing any damage to the stock amplifier .... ??
no there is but that doesnt mean its guaranteed to happen. the only difference in this situation is your ability to send more voltage to the stock amp, just because you can doesnt mean you will. as long as you listen for distortion and dont crank it then it is 100% exactly the same.
compare it to engine RPM. stock you have 1k-6.5 redline which is normal, you cant go over 6.5 no matter what. If you get a "tune" that eliminates the 1-3k rpm so you only have 3k+ with no redline will you blow the motor? no because you can stay at 3k-6.5k where it was stock and nothing would really change BUT you could gas it and go all the way to fucked

lol thats hilarious... ur options are:
take it back to wherever u bought it and exchange, hopefully its just a manu flaw on that single unit but IMO i think its a fail by scosche on all of them.
take it back and return it, spend the money on a metra harness or pac audio might have one as well
find the wire in the stock harness cut it and connect it to the aftermarket hu directly and call it a day

k it says connect pin 14 of the cars wiring harness to accessory, do i have to cut it or is it already, isnt it used by something else? also do i connect the 3.5 mm connector? cause i got nowhere on my head unit to plug it in

cool thanks, so basically connect the orange green wire to pin 11 of the cars original harness and plug in the 3.5 mm to the w/r? and it also says connect pin 14 of vehicals harness to 12v acc. isnt pin 14 already acc?

no idea but if thats what the instructions say then sure do it up. If you want to "check" then get a multimeter and put it on the wire in question (pin 11) and with the car on press on the steering wheel controls and on acv it should change. also u can meter if the other pin has acc or not
