Yes, just rears, that's what's so weird about it. Or it's my sub, maybe I should take a closer look. Either way I want the noise gone. I ordered a PAC harness, instead of the one suggested by op, which I have installed now, see if that helps, if not, I'm just gonna loose my chimes is all

I know this is old BUT to avoid cutting the metal bracket behind the radio, theres two screws on the left side and one on the right side, take those out and you are good to go.

Yes agreed. I just couldn't reach them handily with a wrench and got pissed off. I cut first then unscrewed them. Either way that metal piece is no longer needed.

other plug is for XM not used for an aftermarket radio.

you need to give "remote" to the stock amp. its generally the pink wire in the cobalt harness

Hey Derek, nice write up. I have a problem I was wondering if I can send you pictures I'm not sure how to send pictures here and it's hard to explain. I have pioneer avh-4000dvd I took it out from other car. I have 2006 cobalt SS and I bought harness from eBay not the one you have I bought a cheap one. I don't care about steering control. I just want indash to be working. I connected wires whatever matched up but there are still few wires left and I'm not sure how to connect those. If you can provide me with your email so I can send pictures. I would highly appricate it. I don't want to spend tons of money getting it done from outside. From indash it self I have two yellow wires one is (12v) so I connected that. The other yellow wire is (Mute) wire I'm not sure where that's gonna go. Then I have red (Acc) wire I'm not sure where that's going to go. Then I have green (wire) people are saying is parking brake. Where do I put that? Then I have blue/white wire. What do I do with that? then I have two black wires, I'm not sure why two, could it be both ground wire? I tried everything the screen hardly shows, display is flickering very bad, and no sound either. Any help would be appricate it. It would be better if I could send pictures.

im surprised it even works at all. The 2 black wires are both ground. pioneer normally has these terminated together with a ring on the end but if it was already installed that would have been cut off giving you 2 separate wires. mute leave unused. ACC will need to go to the fuse box with an add a fuse to an ignition fuse (sunroof normally works good) Green needs to go to the parking brake. this will make it so you can watch video. If its unconnected the until will work but you wont ever be able to watch video on the screen
