How To: Paint Brake Calipers
This is my first attempt at a how to so please bear with me...
Tools Needed-
Jack
Jack Stands (optional but recommended)
High Temperature Paint
Caliper Cleaner (or hot water and a brush)
Wrench (Whatever size your lug nuts are)
Painters Tape And Newspaper
1)
Jack your car and remove the wheels. I did one at a time because I didn't have jack stands. This step is pretty self explanatory.
2)
Clean your calipers throughly with the cleaner, or drench them in hot water and throughly scrub them down. After, cover every surrounding part and adjacent piece of the car with tape and newspaper. Make sure the moving parts and the disc are covered well.
3)
Paint your calipers. I did 3 coats on each, getting heavier with each coat. I waiting around 20min between each coat then waited 30min before putting the wheel back on. Make sure it doesn't drip, unless you don't care if it drips
4)
Gently remove all the newspaper and painters tape. Wait a little while then put your wheels back on.
5)
Enjoy the new look

I would assume. No need for those fancy brake line wrenches. I'd make sure I have jack stands...they're only $20 from Sears. I saw you did get some paint on the rotor, I would assume that would wear off after a time correct?

Yes. As you hit your brakes, the paint is no longer there anymore.

When my friend did hers she used plastic walmart bags to cover the rotors and that worked out pretty well. Just a suggestion so that you don't have to use so much newspaper.

Or just buy a can of brush on caliper paint and dont waste time taping anything off.....
Mkulrey bought 1 1/2pint can and it did 4 cars with 3 coats on each caliper...
By the way, if you read the can of spray paint usually will tell you to do each coat within 1 or 2 minutes, OR do each coat and wait an hour for it to fully dry. Otherwise you will get orange peel or make it more likely to chip off...

As long as the paint is dry before you drive the car, it will just wear off and turn into dust. Usually the paint will start to wear off within just a few miles. The brake pad material and rotor are much harder than the paint, so the paint is the first thing to wear off.

Ok so I was wondering what kind of clearcoat you would need to use. Is there a high temp clearcoat?
I read some member did a pearl clearcoat? Would anyone know which kind you could use? i'd ask the member but they are banned lol
