when i did mine, i used electrical tape because its more flexible and you dont have to worry about scratching the plastic by triming it with a razor.

BUT mine turned out like **** and i used nail polish remover to get it off, but the electrical tape did work really good.

I ended up buying some smoked ones off ebay. ONLY $83(shipped) for the SAE/DOT approved and $85(shipped) for the darker NON SAE/DOT approved.

I took the lock unit out and painted it with a rattle can. There is no cover.

Nice job shadow!! I think it turned out very well!! I'm not sure what my girlfriend will do to me if I do that to her cobalt but her car is silver and I think that would be a nice look on it.

Check out the ford rollover in post #2. Nice custom brake dust tint on the wheels capt. dirty!

haah you know what i ended up doing? the paint was peeling directly on the reverse lights anyway, and so i just took a dull envelope opener and just scratched it off. pretty simple.

It is illegal in CA. If it is a modification to the lights it is illegal. They must be DOT approved.
