Drivetrain: Intense TransAxle Mount HoW-to (56k get a beer)
DAMMIT! finally went to a shop to have 'em installed today and they didn't have the exact size of tool for the press in their universal box so they couldn't take the old bushing out since our crappy mounts are made of PLASTIC!
****, I woke up early for no reason. the guy was really cool though and didn't charge me for the hour they wasted on this. Now I wonder where I'll take it to get it done. They said it would be too hard and way too long with a knife so it's better with the hydraulic press but uh.. I guess most shops will have the same sized tools..

I don't know....guess I was just lucky. I took off my mounts, put them in a vise, wedged a big flat-head screwdriver between the plastic and housing and pried it out with no problem. I replaced them with prothane bushings and I just greased them up with synthetic grease, wedged at an angle as well as I could by hand and took a good heavy hammer (maybe a 5 lb. small sledge) and popped it right in...again no problems. Just made sure the bolt sleeve wasn't in at the time so it could flex.

I just went with cobalt addictions that has a new mount and poly all in one. Just undo the bolts out of the old one and pull the mount out, insert new mount with bolts and done. bam 10 mins. Hardest part was my big ass layin on the ground and not falling asleep under the car. lol done it before
Torque values for trans mounts: From p7-5 & p7-42 Helm manual
Front Mount - (2) 37 lb ft.
Rear Mount -
Frame Bolts (3) 44lb. ft.
Bracket to Trans Axle - (3) 44 lb ft
Thru bolts are the ones thru the center of the bushings. This prcedure is done after the mounts are torqued.
The thru bolts are torqued after allowing them to settle as follows- both front & rear thru bolts loose, shake powertrain front to rear direction vigoroulsy, then tighten the thru bolts to 74 lb ft

an easier way to do this:
things needed:
- one fat friend
- screwdriver
- lighter
- block of wood or similar flat surface
- a curb
- wall
1. drive your car up onto a curb so that only your front passenger side wheel is on it. This should give you enough clearance to get under the car to remove the mounts.
2. you can get a screw driver in between the rubber of the mount and the metal surface, apply a little heat directly to the rubber with a lighter until the rubber has warpped. At this point the rubber will slide out with minimal force.
3. Call up your fattest friend, the bigger the better. While you wait for him to get done eating his taco bell, remove the metal middle piece supplied with the new poly mount.
5. Goto your wall. place and hold a block of wood on the poly material over the hole of the mount and have your fat friend step up onto it while balancing on the wall. Have them hop or jump til its fitted in smoothly. Depending on size of fat friend, this should take 2-3 hops.

hey man this really helped with mine thanks oh and buy the way you dont have to take off that bracket on the rear one if you have a 2.2 with stock down pipe you can lift the mount up and over the downpipe and out the over side of it
