i guess that i am a car guy. i'm already browsing the web looking at parts/performance parts for my neon. the good news is that the parts are cheap ( if you can call auto parts cheap ).
i do have a question for you guys. i want to switch from regular oil to synthetic oil ( because of the amount of miles that are on the car) is there anything that needs to be done for the switching? or just empty regular and pour in the synthetic.

Just make the switch Art. Just remember you can't go back to the conventional and that you already know how expensive the oil is.

False. You can go back to conventional if you decide that you don't like synthetic. All you need to change is the filter.

edit: Thread for BBQ on 8/16 is now up: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/show...21#post4165321

We can agree to disagree. All I know is I have a friend who has worked in the car business all his life, and now owns a Lube shop in Littleton. Colorado. He's also the one who got me into racing. I asked him this same question and what I replied with was what he told me. He informed me that the biggest difference is the boiling temps. Thickness/viscosity is not that much different, afterall you'd still use the same weight oil. Just going off the info I have.

I also have a friend who developed the nano-tech for high performance automotive lubricants. He pretty much said the same thing the guy I mentioned above said. I'd take him as very credible. He made millions off this stuff, and is into everything like NASCAR, F1, Champ, Grand Am, etc. You use his name, you get unlimited access at these events. He's also the one who got me to race at teh salt flats. Since he's been an engineer for a 500mph lakester, I think he knows his lubricants.

However, we can always go off wikipedia.

Anyways, who's in for the BBQ on 8/16? I see the thread has been visited, but nobody has replied.
