Ideas for Va Beach and Tidewater region Cobalts
yeah that helps...lol Nice job on the maifold!!
Way to use government time, and funds
I'll be able to...looks like I won't have any duty till I can walk...lol So, that means even when i can walk I'm gonna do the hop along...
We can agree to disagree. All I know is I have a friend who has worked in the car business all his life, and now owns a Lube shop in Littleton. Colorado. He's also the one who got me into racing. I asked him this same question and what I replied with was what he told me. He informed me that the biggest difference is the boiling temps. Thickness/viscosity is not that much different, afterall you'd still use the same weight oil. Just going off the info I have.
I also have a friend who developed the nano-tech for high performance automotive lubricants. He pretty much said the same thing the guy I mentioned above said. I'd take him as very credible. He made millions off this stuff, and is into everything like NASCAR, F1, Champ, Grand Am, etc. You use his name, you get unlimited access at these events. He's also the one who got me to race at teh salt flats. Since he's been an engineer for a 500mph lakester, I think he knows his lubricants.
However, we can always go off wikipedia.
Anyways, who's in for the BBQ on 8/16? I see the thread has been visited, but nobody has replied.

the manual says i can use synthetic in stead of conventional oil. i've read that high milage cars synthetic is the way tot go. it does cost more but you can drive longer on it before you have to change it again. now i just need to find out what type of antifreeze coolant that dodge calls for. GM is very specific on its coolant.

Not much, but we're trying to get things going again since deployments seem to be ending. Got a BBQ on 8/16.
Well, you know where the Navy nurse is. Btw, she got promoted yesterday. No more gold bar.

if you dont have any money to spend on your car, can you still be a car guy?
man i miss my manual. driving an automatic is kind of boring. its only good in heavy traffic.
I'll look into that coolant tomorrow. Greenbrier Dodge calls me all the time, so I know I have it. Would you like me to pick up a gallon?
So, anything going on tonight? If so, I might attend.

Being a car guy is not about the amount of money you can sink into your ride. It's an attitude about compassion for vehicles in general, or even just your own. IMHO, you can still be a car guy and have a rusty 80 Ford Pinto. To me, being a car guy is about respect for all vehicles.

Understood. Chrysler says the coolant you need must comply with their standard, number DS9769. Ironically, that is just DexCool. Same stuff as the Cobalts. Also called extended life coolant, aka the orange stuff.
Tonight I had an oil change go wrong. I started doing an oil change without locating a filter. I know I have about half a case of Purolator filters somewhere, but I can't seem to find them. They don't seem to be at my house. Hopefully they are at the in-laws, which is the last place I saw them because I did my oil change there last time. Anyways, wife is at work. Can't get an oil filter until she gets home. Hopefully there is an auto parts place open tomorrow.

2010 is the last model year for the SS/TC. (or cobalt for that matter)
anyone know of a good machine shop? i need to get an adaptor plate made for a 2.4 TB to 2.0 TB flange. The vulcan turbo intake manifold i got was machined for a 2.4 TB. I'm picking up the Big Bore 2.0 from saturnmotorsports.com
