New guy! Got questions

Hey! Im new around here. Currently I drive a fairly heavily modified grand prix.

Headers
Cam
105 lb springs
2.8sc pulley
intake
injectors
fuel logs
intercooled

I am probably going to trade it in the next few days for a 06 cobalt ss/sc with 101k miles on it.

My question are this:

How reliable is the 06 balt with 101k miles?
I plan on doing a turbo swap right away, will the motor hold up to this well with that many miles? How about the transmission?

Any other information would be nice, I read the turbo lsj thread; however, i found a thread that had information about the different options/kits for going turbo but I cant seem to find it again. Could someone post a link to this if they know what I am talking about? Thanks!

Why do you run 105 lb springs in that car?

Welcome though and the cobalt should be fun.

I guess I'm a bit spoiled them using 54lb stock springs and being able to rev out to 7k and quite a few raise it a bit higher. On the cobalts it tends to create problems going much above springs in the mid 80lb range.

If you upgrade to a double roller timing chain you can run 150's on the grand prix. :P Turbo people do it a lot.

Hey would you say a balt with 100k would still be reliable and good to buy?

They offered me the car + 2 grand. Looks to be in good condition. Stock, never driven too hard from what I can tell. Yeah I know, but I dont want to run 15psi through it and then pop goes to motor lol. But if you guys think itll be ok then cobalt SS here I come!

Yes it should be fine but what are your power goals I'd honestly recommend the TVS if you want in the low to mid 300's at the wheels.

stock ss/sc boost is at 12.5lbs make sure thats what reading on the boost gauge and make sure there is coolant flowing threw the "T" for the supercharger coolant.

I think he means the turbo kit he wants to put on it although 15 PSI really doesn't mean much without the flow rate of the turbo. You shouldn't be good up to about 400 wheel if you have a good tune.
