Pittsburgh Crew < You
You are simply talking out your ass! LOL
First, I didn't pay 37K for it. Second, my "turbo upgrade" is simply a bigger wheel in the stock housing - it's a 20G, which is the smallest upgrade possible. Third, that turbo cost me all of $900, plus $200 for bigger injectors. I also run meth injection so that was another $500.
After all of that being said, you guys like calling **** "rice" and talking **** on 4-bangers, but then you ******* pull out the ULTIMATE ricer excuse of "well give me $X thousand and we'll see".

I was the one who ran you yesterday. It was fun running you, and I'd love to go again when I'm a bit better competition for you. If we were both on near stock power levels, I'd bet the result would vary differently, but again it was still a good run.
learn to respect both, I always see a little bit of jealousy/hatred coming from you when it comes to v8s
the Evos are stout good running cars, the 4G63 has been a badass performer for well over 15 years now.
what does it take for an LS2 to hit mid-low 11's in a 3700lb GTO? Other than bolting on a supercharger, and half assing it and calling it a day, it requires real engine work
Stock dyno #'s:
Engine: 400bhp/400tq
Wheels: 352rwhp/348rwtq
L76 Intake - $250
L92 Heads - $900
HPE S2 Cam (kit) -$800
Long Tube Headers - $500
H Pipe/Exhaust - $400
Total investment:
$2850
final result: 480-505rwhp / 465-475rwtq
Now from here, depending on what you need to do next, will be a lot of suspension work to apply the new found power, and obviously forced induction becomes a good option
is the Evo a better built car than the GTO i.e. build quality? not at all, but that goes without saying. But from a performance standpoint the Evo has an awesome platform to make power cheaply

I definitely agree with Wes about how people view 4cyl. cars, but I understand the ignorance of someone that hasn't never been in one of our cars. BUT - look back at all of the posts since you guys have been posting on here and see which way the pendulum actually swings when it comes to respecting other vehicles. I think these guys have been more than welcoming to you guys only to get bashed constantly, which is total bullshit. There is no jealousy or hatred of V-8's - just for ignorant attitudes and comments.
I personally don't hate V-8's...I grew up with them. I CHOOSE to drive the car I drive because it's what I like. I could afford any car I want, but this is what I like right now. If you like the GTO then that's great for you, but don't try disrespecting people and talking ****, and expect them to welcome you with open arms.
This is a very cool/accepting group of people and there is no reason they should have to put up with such blatent ignorance.
No I know it was you that raced me Jay, but his comments were in response to our race. I just don't appreciate the total lack of respect for anything but the almighty GTO and the attitude that V-8's are superior. I also know it was you that made the comment of "no replacement for displacement", but I like how now the arguments have changed to "you're not stock" and "give me thousands to sink into my car and we'll see". You HAVE to agree that those are "ricer" excuses. If you would have beat me I can guarantee I am the last person that would ever say anything about how much you spent or how many cylinders you have over me. If I don't like getting beat, I either have to do something about it or shutup - not try to justify it by how much the other car cost.

and I will agree with you 100% on how a lot of old head V8 guys disrespect the 4cyl cars, its against the norm that they know. I could care less either way, I prefer a RWD torquey v8 to a boost happy 4cyl.
But to reverse the thinking, 4cyl owners are also just as ignorant as well. And if you think otherwise, then just wow
some like vanilla, some like chocolate... and others just a really strange flavor... in the end its all good
I for one did not disrespect you, and if i did I apologize, but bit of advice don't be so sensitive. If you want I can find a couple NA V8s to humble you big time if thats a road you would like to cross, but I had fun yesterday and saw it nothing more than a modded evo beating a stock gto.
I agree - modded vs. stock and it was what it was, but there is no need talk about the price of my car, what I've done to it, or to tell people to learn about racing. That's not what we were doing - hell none of us have race cars. We have fun street cars - that's it. If anyone on here believes otherwise they are dillusional.
You didn't see me jump on here and start talking **** about the race or about your car, so I see no need for it to come from the other direction.

That's one reason I like the s/c'd ecotec. Doesn't sound like a small V8, but feels like one, esp. given our ~2900 weight. I don't have much experience w/ turbos, though. Just random food for thought.
And I could find just as many NA or FI to humble those - there is always someone faster. Hell, there are other Evo's that I know are faster than me in the area. That's not the point.

I'm staying out of the GTO vs. EVO convo, but I just wanted to add I've driven a number of Stang GTs, two LT1 Camaros, and the powerband on the s/c'd Redline and Balt SS/SC feels almost identical, imho. In fact, the last two GTs I drove (second to last gen, and last gen) seemed almost a touch peaky.

the only downside to the design is its parasitic loss.

Not trying to stir the pot any more here, but I've learned to respect pretty much any type of car through attending auto-x events, whether it be a $50k z06 or a CRX that was built up for a ST class for maybe 10 percent of the above cost and can turn in times almost just as good for that type of racing.
So I try not to talk crap on any cars, unless the car is utterly ridiculous in my mind (i.e. things that could be considered "that type of food that I can't stand that people use to describe cars")...and that includes both domestic and import brand cars, and even then I try my hardest to keep my mouth shut...if you don't have anything nice to say...
Basically it all comes down to personal taste - I prefer the rumble and grunt of a V8, and I rather like how heavy feeling my lead sled is...hearing the doors close with a thunk, no rattles inside, most comfortable car I've ever sat in, just cruises so friggin smooth and yet it still handles quite well and has more than enough power for me (at the moment)...it just feels like a completely solid package.
Finally, I've watched and ridden along in some pretty crazy evo's and sti's at autocross, so I definitely know the potential those cars have
The thing that bothers me most is that a lot of car enthusiast groups out there are at least starting to recognize the GTO a little now after almost 4 years - everyone except the old school muscle car group. Most of them still think the new age goat is an import car that doesn't even have a Pontiac block (um hello, basically all engines are corporate across GM now), looks like a grand am or a cavalier or whatever and isn't deserving of the name
They fail to realize that it's basically the same exact formula of the original car, with its understated looks and all.
Sorry for the long post. /End thread hi-jack

I agree with every word you just said...it's a personal preference and I have no problem respecting what someone else likes as long as it is reciprocated. Hell, my wife and I have had 33 cars in the last 8 years LOL - so I like A LOT of different cars. Is my car the most luxurious, best riding car? No, but that's what I want - I want to feel/hear the road. I'm old - I won't be interested in that kind of ride for much longer and have to enjoy it now

The only thing I will agree with that GTO guys may not like, but I told Jay this last night, is that I was hoping for a retro look for the GTO when I first heard it was coming back. My first car was a 1968 GTO convertible, and my brother and I still have it. So needless to say, I'm a little biased toward the old looks.
There isn't really a pot to stir...Yes, I am touchy about things, but probably for similar reasons to just about everyone here. The GTO guys get **** from people for the reasons you stated probably just as much as we 4-bangers do, so when I go to hang out with friends, those are the last guys I want to hear crap from. And yes, I do seem to a few have anger issues

I think you, PSU, and myself are all on the same page.
But I do disagree with you, the GTO should not have had a retro look. It's played out, and do you really think ressurecting a legendary automotive name with a retro look is the best idea? After 20 years, and picking up where you left off? It's nice to see progress imo.
I'm slow.... thanks to slowboy racing.
PS. 913HP drift FTW... http://forzamotorsport.net/forzamoto...184613&mode=10
I need someone with a non-R-class car to race me and my U999 SRT8 Charger.

Wow... play nice
Don't make me turn this thread around and you both will go home without seeing the races.

you both are fast... faster than me. That's all that is important.
2 paths to the same outcome.

Brian: So, uh, you know, if you ever feel like the Vette's too much for you to, uh, take care of, you know I um, I would probably be able to take care of that for ya. You know, uh, strictly as a favor for YOU. I of course would get no personal enjoyment out of it, except knowing I could, ya know, lend a hand to a friend.
I'm note sure what that was referring to....
I wish that Z was mine. I told Rad in a few weeks when I get time, that I'll ride out to Starlight with him so he has company, and that if he's too tired to drive home, I'd be happy to help him...
Gotta try any angle I can get.
Same with the Silver Ion... but for VERY different reasons
I have about as much chance of either...maybe better odds on driving teh Z.
Yep... and I can't pull off that outfit either.
There's kids on big wheels in my nieghborhood that are faster. I usually try to take them from a dig. Those plastic front wheels spin on concrete...
From a 1mph roll, they take me.

It came to my attention that my earlier post had a broken link. Try this for the 913HP drift:
http://cobalt.**************/forza/srt8-1.jpg
http://cobalt.**************/forza/srt8-1.jpg
I have other pics of the car... but not going through the grass or hitting a wall... lol. That was actually a legit drift that I ended up controlling all the way through the turn. It wasn't great for my speed... but at least it looked sweet and I didn't wreck it.
