Pittsburgh Crew < You
please tell me wes wasnt doing a burnout to heat up his tires, then ride it out to the line... unless he's running a sticky tire, theres no need, but just a quick brush off to get the water off em
Yes, a 2.0 4-cyl. can break the tires loose. Anywhere in 1st, actually. Sometimes second hehe
I just hope he didnt bust it wheel hopping, as soon as I get wheel hop, i just back out, and chalk it up as a bad run.
I may just goto watch, since my drag bags wont be here till the 11th

I dont question your cars can spin the tires, I know they can, they got more than enough torque to do it.

Somehow the Saturn keeps on ticking lol
That douche didn't spray down my burn box
I don't dump the clutch when launching either, anything but. My car never gets hop/spin when I launch, just hooks. Now the water pit is a different story, I beat the **** out of it in there. Dunno why but I like it
The car simply isn't getting better than a 2.0 60' with those tires. I've gotten that I think twice and get get 2.1s pretty much every other run. I don't see the car launching any better until slicks are on it.
Oh well. Pretty much have 4 spare axles laying around. Will have a new one on tomorrow and be back on the road for some BWW.
Left lane FTW.

LOL as for the "incident" that occured sometime this evening at PRP, I've been told my commenting privledges have been revoked. DESPITE the fact that I dragged myself out of my damn comfy bed to pick someone's ass up at the track AND follow the tow truck so he didn't scratch new paint v3.0 on Wes' car with the magnetic lights. We JUST got the car in the garage and I have to be up for work in 6 1/2 hours, PLUS I'm donating the use of my car to pick up axels and serve as transportation for the day.
So yeah, if anyone is wondering why I'm not chiming in with catty comments or posting my own rendition of "The Wheels on the Balt"....er, um, Bus...that would be why. Anyone else is free to take my place though

WOw.....
missed a good time. But, I was busy making $.
ET vs. trap speed is a black art. You can run slower ET's and have killer trap speed by having bad 60 fts and such, then @ 1/8 when the car really starts cooking, you play catch up.... the traps get good, but it took you longer to get there...
Ed ran a 13.2 last year @ 73mph....
I ran a 14.9 @ 98....
Brian ( my buddy in the camaro ) ran a 12.4 @ 108
of course he was running 70% at the time and backed out @ the 1000 ft mark.

I was racing a cammed dart that looked pretty mean but was the guys first time driving it or something, he ran a 14.4x and I ran a 14.5x he trapped at 91 and I trapped at 103 or something lol. But my last run I ended up running a 14.3, I still had some clutch slip in second and had to back out, then had a slow shift to third for some reason. But the clutch didnt do to bad. Atleast people didnt walk by and sniff and grimace like they did after my second run lol. I still say that second run would have been in the 13's if not for the three seconds of not moving due to the clutch lol
How come we all ran so shitty last night?

Sorry went to bed last night in the middle of the convo. My only mods are S2 and an intake.
Hey Wes - look here: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums//showthread.php?t=61933
That car was wicked.

Because you were at PRP
I've talked to a lot of people who say that's really not the best track to run, but it's close and convenient. From what I've been told by family and friends who have run there, it's also HUGELY inconsistent.

Well, any of the non-NHRA tracks are going to be similar in the quality of the track.
PRP is alot... ALOT better NOW with the Tedescos ( sp? ) running things than that of the previous people that owned it.
Quaker City ( Salem, OH ) is not any better or worse, just different.
You want GOOD tracks... go to Reading ( Maple Grove ) , Summit Raceway ( Norwalk, OH ), or Englishtown, NJ. Those are all NHRA sanctioned tracks that hold BIG events, so they are all setup well, maintained all season and very consistent.
For what PRP is... I think it's a good place.
I hope you all are NOT just going out there for your ET. You all talk about racing people, and I don't care if it's from a roll, a dig, or a reverse pull.... Reaction times matter.
I've talked to countless ( becuase I can only count on my 1 hand ) tuner guys that say " I don't care about my RT becuase I just want to see how fast my car is... "
That's such BS. You race a person... when the light goes out, whether it's a traffic light, a flashlight, or a x-mas tree.... You better be gone ASAP.
Also.. you guys should go to actual races and not just the TNTs. TNTs are just that... tests... You want to get good and consistent, bracket race. It forces you to focus and figure out how to get the car to go how you want it.
Don't tell me that since you have a stick, it's impossible to be consistent.. There's plenty out there that are doing it, so why can't we?
Sorry... just had to get that off my chest.

Sorry... just had to get that off my chest.
Seriously... that's one thing... but 99% of you guys are not there for that reason. If you WERE... then you are wasting a good opportunity to learn about you and your car.
Again, most of you ( not all ) mention racing people and the better you are THERE.. the better you are everywhere.
True.. not everyone goes there to be serious about it. Dan P. wanted a baseline for his car before he does his work. Yes, getting out there helps dial in the tuning I would imagine, but if you're not going to do the best you can there, why even go? If you're looking to get out and about with everyone, you can still go, but not run, as some of us do.
Sorry... not trying to sound like a Pr^@k. Just hit a nerve with me today I guess.
I'm not saying I just go there for something to do. If I am there, I will try my best. Hell, look at how I usually take the seats out.
But if I cared that much, I would only go when I know the car is 100% instead of wasting my money (car still needs the tune tweaked and no one knows what is going on with my injectors, can only take the car to 6k), and also with slicks/wheels, axels, drag bags, and etc. Pretty much only went last night cause Dan was going, was something to do instead of taking my mom to the Dr.s
