Pittsburgh Crew < You
it's $35 to run the day... either day.
For both it's $75. It's the Pgh vintage grand prix event, so the $ goes mostly to charity... Autism society.
Just needs to bring his helmet from the bike... as long as it's a SNELL rated helmet. SM or SA
As long as the car is still stock... he can run in AS. If not, then we can talk and decide what class he'd be in.
We can also get him some #'s made up since they are more strict now about those.
Call me this week... I'm on here off and on.

Are they still crying about the numbers? That might be a deciding factor about running vs not running this weekend. If I'm there, I'll be there with my neon orange window numbers and black marker. If that's now against their rules, then, I won't be.
It's not "crying" about it. It's a vaild point. I've been at events where I can't read the shoe polish #'s on the cars, or read the tape the side between people wanting to be artistic or just not a contrast. Hell, I had a hard time reading LEGAL #'s at the tour....
I would say you should run Wes' car in SM and have at it.

Not to get too off-topic, but I went and saw the first showing of Transformers last night. It was pretty sweet, brought back a lot of childhood memories. I won't go into a huge review, but I'll just say that if you go into the movie not expecting it to be completely realistic and serious, I think you'll have a good time. Special effects were amazing, and the eye candy for me was definitely the '09 Camaro and Megan Fox...my new dream girl
I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and walked out of the theater with a smile on my face, so I guess that's a good thing since I was worried it was going to stink.
Oh, and there were two new age goats that I spotted in the movie, a yellow jacket and I think a midnight blue metallic with the SAP rear spoiler, not counting the '09 Camaro which was really an '05 GTO that Saleen modified into the Camaro. Neither of the GTO's were Transformers though, and I didn't see any Cobalt SS's either

yeah, I order the senior "big print" version.

Dan... this thread has no topic, therefore, you cannot be off topic...

poor yellow jacket gto...I think it had the factory 17's chromed too
The midnight blue metallic one with the sport appearance package rear wing survives though, but that one is hard to spot!
I'm pretty sure I read before that all the gto's in the movie that were used to make the 09 camaro cars were from the infamous GTO train derailment of all those '05's anyway.

We'll see about Sunday. Wes still hasn't gotten his tire fixed so I don't know if I'll be running anything or not. I really don't want to bring the r-comps out.
It's ONLY a point for the people in the timing van, at least that's what I feel is the issue at SCR. That's all. Those are the only people that should be concerned with seeing the numbers. Here's why, and this is from my experience as a spotter both at SCR and ESPECIALLY at CPR......we can't see the numbers. Even on a well-made Justin number plate. Maybe it's different at CPR because the van can't see the cars on the entire track and it rests solely on the spotters to tell the van how many cones on each car, and the spotter is the one who tells the timer which car to assess the penalty to. There is NOTHING more aggrivating than being a spotter at SCR because anything the courseworkers tell you over the radio is pretty much useless, you have to be watching to see if someone goes out to pick up a cone and watch for their signal, someone randomly yelling "72 CSP" - that's all well and good but unless and until they go to using NASCAR-sized numbers....it means jack **** to a spotter, which is what makes me say the ONLY person that can use this information is the timing van. Hell, CPR explicitly tells course workers DO NOT CALL IN WITH A CAR NUMBER, because NO ONE is going to know who the hell you're referring to. So everyone calls in cones on a "Blue Civic," "Blue Honda," "Blue car," "1st car on course." Then no matter what the call is, we know exactly who to put the penalty on, when they cross the finish we get the car number, turn around and tell the van "That's 3 cones on car number 224."

The #'s are the ONLY thing they call... they don't say... "one cone on the blue EVO" Becuase there could be 2 evos on course.
Cone call goes like this
Worker: "Corner 2 to control"
Control: "Go ahead corner 2"
Worker: " Car 32CSP... plus 1"
Control: "Thank you corner 2... 32CSP Plus 1"
You have 5 corner stations each station consisting of at least 3 people.... 1 with a radio, 1 running for cones, and 1 writing the car # and CONE # down. They take those sheets and during the audit, they compare that, to what control written down. The course workers need to be able to see clear the #s and class. That's why the SCCA has the rules of the size and stroke of the letters/numbers.
I'm not saying to go to person A or person B for them, but everyone should have something legible to anyone out there. SCR is attempting to incorporate the same fashion of cone calling as the national events.
Again, I'm not arguing about how legible things are. I'm just stating a fact that I've been part of. How things are done in different regions is irrelevant to how things are done locally.
Class #'s are to be a minimum of 8" high, with stroke of 1". Class letters are to be a min. of 4" high. That's out of the SCCA rule book. Granted, we're not a national event...we're local.
I understand you run central and they do their own thing as far as #'s and such, but that's there.
Anyway... I'm not trying to start an argument, I'm just pointing out this to anyone that wants to run @ the beav under the SCR. When it's your 1st time there, they cut you slack, but if you've done this before there, you're expected to have that changed, just like any other tech inspection thing that isn't safety related.
True. I know things are done differently nationally and that's fine, if I ever decide to run nationally I'll comply with the numbers...until then I don't want **** on my car. I don't feel the need to buy numbers when I run on average 2 events there a year. There's other issues at play with why I more and more despise SCR. They're a big reason why I don't auto-x anymore because for me, it's not enjoyable to run there and the drive to State College adds a LOT of expense to an auto-x weekend. I think my issues with SCR is that I got off on a bad foot with them from the very start and nothing that's happened since then has make my impression any more positive. Put it this way, if my only auto-x experience would have been with SCR I never would have come back.

Well im back from vacation finally... but now my car has some kr through 2nd and third
anywhere from 3.0 to 1.0, may be the gas... who knows, but I had a good trip, sounds like I missed alot of stuff.
I usually get 1.5 - 2 hits top of second and third. Only if my IAT2s are above 140ish, or so.
Check to see if it's when you get on throttle, suddenly. I can get KR even cruising in 5th gear, at like 30 mph, if I punch the throttle. Obviously, not much acceleration, but seems like the engine rocking, at all, can create false knock.
I've watched that happen during a 40mph, 2nd gear drop. Instant hit of knock (like 2), that goes back to zero, then maybe I get some real knock at the top of 2nd or 3rd.
Might be worse if you have solid mounts...can't remember if you do.
