Anyone have any experiences with Mercury Marauders? Such as racing against one, seeing one at the track, or know someone who has owned one? I've always loved them since they came out, and prices have began to drop to a reasonable price range.. It's on my list of cars to look at when I'm done with the Cobalt.. I've driven a Marauder before (I'm a valet) and it was very nice.. I love the idea of a big car with power..

For anyone who doesn't know, it was a performance-oriented version of the Mercury Grand Marquis (Town Car / Crown Vic too). It's all blacked out, has factory Auto Meter gauges, nice wheels, high-flow exhaust, and Cobra/Mach-1 engine components.. It makes a little over 300hp with a good axle ratio and a handling package much tighter than on the normal cars..

Anyone..?

There is a guy that has had a Marauder at BR at the north track and it's pretty quick for a big car.

Personally , for hte $$, I'd buy a used interceptor CV and dump the extra $ into it as it will already have better HD parts in it.

Well I have thought about doing the Interceptor, but the problem is that I really want to buy something that I don't have to do much to.. I really don't want to have another "project". I want a really nice daily driver that looks good and moves.. Maybe a few light mods, but nothing insanely extensive.. I don't want to have another project until it's the second car.. That's why I mentioned the Marauder instead of the Interceptor.. Those Interceptors have a billion miles on them usually, however those are good for over 250k usually.. It depends.. I'm not much of a Ford-brand guy, but those Marauders are pretty cool..

I wanna go, but I doubt I'll get the chance this year.

We went 3 times last year

To tell you the truth its more fun than going in the summer time for me. Just make sure you get there early. It starts at 7 and the ticket lined are long, so i suggest buying your tickets at giant eagle in advance. Last week Claudia an I went, and because we had our tickets got bumped to the front of the line. We were the first two people in the park and the first two on the exterminator. whoot

Shes scared of the people and the houses so i pretty much drag her through

As Brian mentioned, there's one that runs one up at BeaveRun. It's actually his wife's car. It has a decent performing engine, but it handles like the boat that it is (and pukes up rear axle grease like no other). It all depends on what you want out of it.

A cruiser/daily driver that moves.. lol. It obviously has to look good.. I just don't want to spend a billion dollars on mods.. I just want to get something that's a solid platform for daily driving that won't get me in too much trouble.. lol.

If that's the case, then I think it's a poor choice. High HP + RWD is great for a 2 1/2 season daily driver, but not the best choice for western PA in the winter.

Yeah, I'm not saying it wouldn't be completely impossible to get around in winter, it just doesn't seem like a logical move to me.

Yet another reason why the Z06 is not a car for everyday... at least not in PA

I miss the car... haven't driven in since Sunday...
