Thanks for the info Dan. I ended up ordering the ZZP heat exchanger yesterday. I will have it tomorrow. I couldn't fully justify the extra expense of the OTT unit with it only being marginally better, and the ZZP having more surface area. I also bought an 08' TC upper and lower grille to help protect the H/E a bit better from debris. The TC grille should be in Thurs. The ZZP seemed to be the best design and best mounting, and I have had good luck dealing with ZZP before. I liked the CX Racing H/E, but the mounting wasn't perfect since it was a generic appliation. I will see how this ZZP unit works. With that being said I am gonna try and get rid of the CX Racing unit. It's a little bit banged up but still fully funtional, if anybody is interested PM me an offer.
Anyone know the difference between the Cobalt SS and non SS radiators? I bought an aftemarket replacement that was listed for an SS, but it has an auto trans cooler built in, and it is a bit thinner than my stock rad... I called up the place I bought it from thinking they sold me the wrong model, but the guy assured me after looking at 4 different brands that all Cobalt aftermarket rads were being made generic for all Cobalt engines and that that one he sold me should work perfectly fine. Thoughts on possible loss of cooling efficiency..?

^^^ I agree. I can't really think of any normal every day car that would have a trans cooler on a manual transmission. There's just oil in there. To the best of my knowledge there's no pump or anything like that to push the oil into a trans cooler. However, every automatic I've ever seen has had lines going from the trans to the rad to cool the fluid. You should be OK using it if it fits. I would just find plugs that screw in to those holes to keep the dirt and debris out...
You all are correct... Most every modern auto trans has a cooler, and it is usually built into the radiator was a small single pass unit in the one side tower. I don't believe I have ever seen a manual tranny with a cooler, bc like said, there is nothing to circulate the fluid through it. Even so, a manual wouldn't need it as it doesn't get nearly as hot because there is no friction material or anything in the tranny.
FYI, the stock LSJ rad didn't have a cooler bc there was obviously no auto tranny offered.
That aftermarket unit fit just fine. I will assume it works great unless there is overheating or anything.

Since it's cool to sell stuff in here...
I just ordered a navigation head unit (AVIC F900BT). So I don't have a need for my current aftermarket Pioneer head unit. If anyone local wants it, I'm selling it pretty cheap.

Price:
$150-ish?
I'll throw in the dash mounting kit as well. It fills the double din slot and gives you a slot for storage below the head unit. All you'll need to buy is a harness and antenna adapter.
Also, most of you that I talk to on a regular basis already know that I ordered a new exhaust. I'll have my full 3" exhaust sitting around if anyone is interested in it. It'll include the 3" catless downpipe and then the 3" cat-back with Magnaflow resonator and muffler. It's full stainless.
