Was shot with that 35mm.

its amazing what the lens can do for the price....especially compared to (much) more expensive alternative lenses. hell the differences between the 35mm 1.8 and the 50mm 1.4 are minimal (other than the obvious focal length) and the 35mm is less than half the price. there are some other lenses that i really would like to have but for the money (especially what i got mine for) the 35mm f/1.8 is hard to beat.

can't wait to get mine in

Yeah "Nifty 50" has been usurped by that 35mm. Canon **** bricks when that thing went on sale.

I'm in the same boat as you are. I have my kit lens (18-55) my prime (35mm f1.8) and a telephoto (70-300) but I want something for landscapes or large groups. I have an APS-C sensor (nikon D60) so from what I read, a lot of the wide angles aren't as impressive on a DX body vs a Full frame sensor body.

i have the 18-55mm but i opted for the 55-300mm instead, and of course the 35mm 1.8

i have looked at some wide angles that can be had for less than 500 or so but i figure id better get good with what i have first then get more equipment....so i will probably pick something like that up a little later

Haha, unfortunately it is not a VR. It is a Sigma DG APO 70-300 which works out to about a 105-450 on my body. I couldn't pass it up with the deal I got (I paid $150 for it brand new!). With a good tripod or if it is bright enough out there isn't too much issue with it not being a VR. I have had really good luck with it with just a monopod.

Yeah that 70-300 is good, I have one too. Going from 200mm to 300mm was an excellent jump! Great for photographing airplanes.

So my D800E arrived... I am very impressed to say the least. Here is an unedited image I shot yesterday in my studio with my Nikon 180MM 2.8 ED. The detail is stunning.... 56K don't even bother, DSL be a lil patient.

If you are shooting cropped sensor, the Tokina 11-16 2.8 is hands down the best SWA. Fisheye wise the Nikon you cannot heat the 10.5 2.8. One of my favorite lenses, but I only shoot full frame. Both can be found used for around 500.00. The Sigma 10-20 isn't too bad, but quality wise it doesn't stack up to the tokina. (Also lacks a 2.8)

Same here. Plus save up a few more bucks. Looks like it's worth it for getting those wide angle shots though.
