2012 Official Photography Thread.
Also scored a Nikkor 35mm 1.8g today as well. I probably won't be buying another lens until my birthday in February, but do you guys think I should opt for a 55-200 or grab a 50?
Also slowly grabbing misc equipment when I can afford it in between.. hoping to grab a backpack next.

How much? VR version?
Kinda torn between having a 35mm and 18-200mm or 12-24, 35, and 55-200/300 setup.
Gonna cost me about the same, I believe.
Why are you torn? Buy them all; slowly; and lights; and flashes; and stands; and bodies; AND THE WORLD!!!!
Seriously though, have yourself a low end zoom (kit) and long zoom (200 or 300) a good prime (35 or 50 - 50 is more popular). Then branch out. If you want to do macro think about a 60 or a 105 (Nikon calls it micro - same thing). Then wide angle (10 - 20 range). Then go buck wild after that.

I just want a work set that I can carry around and work with for awhile. 2-3 lenses. Those mentioned above in my last post is what I was considering. Then branch out with like macro, etc when I get more spending cash.
The only thing holding me up is I don't know how wide I want to shoot/whether 18(x1.5) is wide enough for me. so really I have to decide if 18(x1.5) is "wide" enough or go with a 10/12-24(x1.5). From there, it's easy.
My 35mm will be here tomorrow.
For wide zoom, I have listed:
Tokina 11-16 DX II
Nikkor 12-24
Nikkor 10-24
Tokina 12-24 DX II
It's really gonna come down to price.

congrats! i think my 40 2.8 or 50 1.8 is under the xmas tree as we speak
i did want the 50mm 1.8 before but now im leaning more towards the 40mm 2.8 after reading some reviews.
anyone use a 40mm 2.8 lens already that would care to post an example of some really great shots it is capable of?
