That remote is great too by the way! It has excellent range and the battery lasts just short of forever.

That's what the reviews tell me.
Ordered everything from Amazon. Should be here when I get home from work Wednesday.

Also scored a Nikkor 35mm 1.8g today as well. I probably won't be buying another lens until my birthday in February, but do you guys think I should opt for a 55-200 or grab a 50?

Also slowly grabbing misc equipment when I can afford it in between.. hoping to grab a backpack next.

There is an 18-300 out now. Go for that. The 55-200 is nice but 200 pales in comparison to 300.

I can't afford that. What about a 70-300mm from Sigma?

So long as it gets decent reviews and has image stabilization of some kind you'll be fine. At 300 it's insane how much minute little movements throw you off massively.

What're you shooting when using 300mm?

That 18-300 is nice though.. Would be kit + zoom taken care of.

Depends on what you're shooting
Tamron's 70-300 has vibration reduction second to none. I have the Nikon AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED as well as the Tamron 70-300MM F/4-5.6 Di VC USD. The Tamron gets far more use, believe it or not. Especially for action and panning shots. Great lens for the money. My opinion anyway, i've not used the Sigma

Yeah I own the Nikon one, it isn't bad just Nikkor is always a premium cost.

It's a good substitute if the actual Nikkor is too expensive for a person, from what I've read. Need HSM version for auto focus, as far as Nikon goes.

Ah, I see. For zooming into your neighbor's backyard whose wife is skinny dipping, eh?

I'll keep that in mind. Maybe I can demo out the Sigma and Tamron.. I'll have to do some research on the Tamron though. As I'm typing this, I dunno how much it retails around for.

I can't think of any scenarios where I would be using a 300, so that's why I just opted for a 55-200, since it compliments the kit lens, but I guess I'll figure it out soon enough.

My sister has a canon sx something that zooms to 840mm. I'd killlllll to try a lens on my slr that could zoom like that camera. Even that 400mm would be amazing to play with.

Love photography.

Own a D600 with a 24-70 2.8f, 35mm 1.8f, 85mm 1.8f.

Next lens will most def be a 70-200 2.8f.

Then i only need the 14-24 2.8f and i got the Nikon Trinity of lenses.

I just noticed you have the first version of the Tokina 11-16 or something.. the DX II has an autofocus motor built in.
