400whp 35r dyno vids and pics
Hey JC, badass man!! i was nervous when you wanted to sell it before. glad you kept her. those are some nice numbers. when do you plan on doing a full motor build??
why would 600 Horse be silly?

i'd worry about getting into the 10's with under 600 before i'd worry about gettin anywhere over that.. traction is **** on these cars to begin with
Yes, I was agreeing with you.
Are you sure about that? What do I get when I win this challenge?
I already know of one Cobalt that has put down over 400whp on a 50trim. Why not make it two... on the exact same turbo.
Are you game for this challenge?
It seemed earlier as if the OP was implying that your dyno read low. If it doesn't, that's good. Just going off of what he said/implied with his wording.
I said that. And I agree with what you're saying.
He never came out and said, "hey, I'm building this motor... but these numbers will do for now".
Sure, we could have approached this a better way and maybe said, "Good job... buuuuut".

well fine I'll apologize but he's never said how much power he's shooting for.. also SMG no one ever said anything about making over 400 whp on a 50 trim.. we said you could make more power on a better paired turbo
if he's going for crazy numbers then this is a great turbo for it
something I've wondered about .. have you guys looked at porting the saab intake manifold? I thought about getting it and doing something similar
also smg.. don't point fingers at other companies for skewing numbers.. they provide all more information then many other people on this forum and are usually pretty upfront with their numbers
and it doesn't matter if he's making more power or not.. people are voicing their concerns with that large of a turbo and his setup if he didn't want any criticism then don't post your **** he should've knowned after last time what was going to happen \
and no one is scared of real world numbers we're just saying his numbers seem low

I hate to be one to make comments because i try to not be a vendor to trash talk but, I feel like it is needed to step in on this one....
....First of all....I would challenge ANYONE to put a 50 trim on a stock LSJ motor and make over 400 whp....period the end. I hate to say it but some people that are unfamiliar with turbos/building turbo cars need to quit looking at turbo specs and seeing "cabable of 450 whp" and thinking anything you bolt that turbo on will make 450whp! MOSTLY ALL turbo's give you a range of C.I.D of engine it can go on, and most range from 1.8L-2.6L some 2.0L-3.0L so like i said, I would like to see a 50 trim make over 400whp on a stock LSJ.
Second...keep in mind where this build is heading... this car is FAR from being in its final stages, some people saying the turbo is a waste are way off base. Could the car make more power yes...will it ulimately make more..OF COURSE! but the build isnt done yet. He found a good deal on a great turbo and jumped on it... knowing plenty well that down the road once the engine is build it will be used to its full potential. Does this car make more power than MOST members cars on this forum...YES so im not sure why so many people seem to be hating.
The dyno here reads perfectly correct, not sure why we get so many complaints from members here, but have no complains from our 600, 700, or 800+ V8 customers. You think its because so many guys here tend to, lets say .....skew numbers????????? Sort of like because another company here made 400 whp with a twincharged car, that every twincharged car should make that, however did anyone take a look at the fact that they ran a hair of 30psi through that car with an AFR in the 12's with race fuel!?!?!?! does that seem like something anyone would want to try on their stock motor????
Point im trying to make is too many people here have seems to get jaded about what is a realistic number and what is a number that was just made once to be the highest powered car in the world under non-realistic conditions. I think if i left a customers car with a tune in it that was in the 12's, with tons of boost and a race gas tune in it and said here you go its safe as can be....i'd be out of business.
To conclude....this car made great power with what it has done to it and would wipe up alot of cars here. Is there area's for improvement of course....but isnt that the point of building a car in steps? otherwise if you did it all at once....there would be no fun to have down the road
Thanks for listening to my rant!

I never implied the dyno read low. I said that I could go to a happy dyno and get 500 whp but ti wouldn't matter because no one on here criticizing has made 400 let alone 500 whp.
I also said that you wouldn't come to this dyno and make that 400whp with the 50 trim. I meant that it doesn't inflate numbers.
Finally I gave you the trap speed of my old setup where I dynoed 40 less whp. Consistent 118+ on the limiter with 26" dr's @ about 9 psi I don't know what your trapping but I doubt it's 118+ when dynoying 365 whp.

I read earlier in another thread where maxim was getting chirped for running such a big turbo he said he was planning for the future. Good numbers hopefully those carry over to some good track times and then a good engine build to see what really lies ahead.
Im always up for a challenge.... Bring em here, Dyno them and we all shall see. We will call it the free 50 trim dyno day haha
Boost control is key for getting any front drive car out of the hole and putting down a good et....so 10's with some more power wouldnt be out of the question.... we trapped 132 and went 11.3 with our cavy, tho be it much lighter, but I was launching the car on zero boost.... JC's car as it stands should go well into the 11's with the way he launches....and at full weight will for sure need some more power to go 10's, but it is doable and has been done.

Timing is about 16.5 at full advance.
I have a few plans as far as driving the car. Besides taking it to the local mile long aut0-x I would also like to get it to a real road coarse this year. But, primarily I'd love to run the 11.50 heads up classes. It's pretty much a bracket where everyone dials an 11.5. If you go faster your out slower you may loose.
As far as for the build. I like the turbo and setup as it is. Right now the car has 78# springs and thats it for motor work. When it pops, which I'm expecting sometime this year, I'm going to sleeve the block, pistons, NBS's and a ported head with the same setup. After that she is going to get all of 25 psi in street tune and possibly a race gas setup for 30psi. Personally I would like to avoid a cage for now. So even after a full motor build I wouldn't be allowed to run faster than 11.5 so I probably wouldn't go for much more power.
I don't tell many people this. But, I dream to run Targa Newfoundland in a few years and after the motor build I will start to set the car up more for road racing.
