Yup....refinery fires are a completely different beast and can be extremely dangerous. Not saying a house fire or building fire isn't dangerous....we just have other things to think about when fighting oil/gas fires.

I've been pulled over for my tint 4 times and I've only gotten warnings. I just keep my badge with me in my wallet so whenever they ask for my license they see it. Other cool stuff is like if we're all out to dinner on a duty crew wearing our fire shirts, we'll get free food or big discounts sometimes. But the best thing hands-down is the respect you get from people for it. Especially being 19, everyone thinks I'm just "some punk kid" but when they find out I'm a firefighter they give me a whole new level of respect. There's a ton of awesome stuff with being a FF. And best of all you get to look cool wearing the gear and ride around on big red shiny trucks haha
yeah man, thats the best part, im friends with all the cops now, and i carry the badge and they see it and ask what company and all, so they let me off. and also you get money off your taxes for being a volunteer. and yes your right girls love the firefighters. Being 18 its great becuase if i go pick up a girl and they ask about my life and what i do and say i volunteer they think its a really good thing and love me. lol but otherwise, it opens a whole new experience to anyone
