i just picked up a stock cat-back for free. they cut off the front flange, the one that bolts the cat-back to the downpipe. when i picked it up i saw what is in the picture. the middle part of the resonator is loose in the front. my question is, how is this supposed to be held so it doesnt rattle? i know i will at least need a new flange welded on.

resonater is done but everything else looks ok

 

You should be able to weld a flange on there that hits both tubes, the inner and outer, and if it's welded on both it won't rattle.
