What is the scoop with the power steering recall? I got a notice. Do we get a the new parts even if we don't have the problem? I know that is how it was with a recall on my silverado.

- Spoiler comes loose every so often.
- Stock sound system is garbage.
- Plastic pieces covering the screws to remove door bezels fall apart in your hand.
- WEAK power windows.
- The whole steering column vibrates when braking from 50+mph.
- Both key fobs went within 6 months of owning the car.
- Dashboard is IMPOSSIBLE to get the dust off.
- Rear visibility = Poop.
- Seat randomly sliding while driving.
- Temp gauge gets stuck every so often.
- E-brake, every single damn aspect of it.
- Tail-light went within 2 months.
- Stock headlight visibility = More poop than rear visibility.
- Hood gap.
- Stock tires are garbage.
- The horn is completely immasuclating.
- The trunk floor panel snapped in half and the carpet tore, and the whole lining of the trunk fell apart.
- "Cargo Net" holds nothing in place.
- Rear drums rust and look like trash.
Despite all of this, I'm 17 (16 at the time of purchase), and it was a brand new car. And I've put so much work into that thing. This car is almost everything to me (obviously family, friends, and girlfriend come first). It was the first thing I bought myself, I've done all the work myself, and I'm really proud of how far along it's come.
Wouldn't trade this car for anything... Except maybe an SS/TC or an SS/SC.

OK, so I brought the car back to the dealer the other day. After the car being there all day they diagnosed the noise as being the catalytic coverter, It is being replaced as per the recall. (no charge) Hope this fixes it and if it does, I wish they had determined the problem sooner. We'll see what happens and I will update after the vehicle is returned to me.

Tbanks for all the replies with the "Stock vs. Modded" thread! Here's a new one!
So what seems to be the most common problems with cobalts? Not a one time thing, but what do you guys hear about most often. This is for Truedelta, which is a new-ish site that is provideing detailed reliability reports. It goes way above and beyond something like the magazines and publications that are out, as the results are from real users that report on what really happens with their car.
For those that are not members of the survey panel of truedelta, if you can post with the problem, year and model of car, and what the cost was to fix (if not covered under warranty) i will update the info.
Thanks guys!
