damn transmission
damn transmission
ok well im not 100% sure what the problem is so maybe you all can help..everytime i put my car into reverse (standard getrag tranny-2.4)....my trans grinds a slight bit.....now i know your all probably thinking o well the clutch aint all the way to the floor.....and yes it is....as far as it will go to the floor....and the **** still grinds....sometimes its bad...sometimes its slight...and sometimes it just doesnt do it at all...for the most part it grinds bad for like a split second....it does it just as im sliding in to reverse and then after that its over.....does anyone know what the hell is wrong?
Don't want to sound like the dealer here but there may not be anything wrong. I've had lots of cars that gave a little grind when I went into reverse. Maybe just a half second, not a long grind. It's just because you are reversing some of the parts in the tranny.
I've never had problems with cars that ground a little every time.
Sometimes it seems to help if you tap the gas in neutral before pushing in the clutch and pulling the shifter back. Gets the gears more in sync.
If it grinds for a while and doesn't want to go in you do have a problem. But if it just makes a little noise as it slides in you are probably ok.
Take it back to the dealer since it's still under warranty.

thats what i thought....i mean ive never had a problem out of it for the 2 years ive had it...and all of a sudden its doing this.....i mean i drive spiritedly...and my trans was a learner...its had its share of grinds....but it still shouldnt be doing this
Has anything to do with the clutch and flywheel being after market. Just guessing at this point. I know with the B&M short throw you have to be careful how tight you screw the knob on. If its to tight reverse will grind or not work at all.
but thats the problem....i have no aftermarket clutch/flywheel...or a shortthrow...lol you might have confused my future mods with what is done
mine does this too, I am concearned because my reverse lights stopped working in addition to this.....https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/general-cobalt-68/reverse-lights-out-%2Ahelp%2A-72539/
well took it in and the dealer told me that its going to grind...its normal...said the reverse gears arent syncroed so the gears dont mesh perfectly causing it to grnd a slight bit...said its not doing and real damage to the trans because the gear teeth are sliding off of each other causing a slight grinding noise....he said thats mostly likely what the problem is and if it gets alot worse then i should have brought back for more extensive work
