i have an 05 ss/sc and i pulled up my ebrake when i was parked and its like it snaped or something i cant put my e brake on anymore. anyway to fix this on my own

 

take it out competely and look at it

 

i just gotta undo the two bolts on each side or is their screws ne where

 

i think it is just the 2 bolts i cant member off the top of me head

It is definitely the ratchet system that broke. Known to be very failure prone.

Luckily it is a cheap part. If the link doesn't work, search "park brake hndle" for the 2005 cobalt.

As far as replacing, you should be able to get away with removing the panel under the parking brake, and the rear cup holder. If you have a armrest, you'll have to remove it too. Should just unbolt.
