Headlight Housings Wont Sit Right (help)

So last night I took out the old projectors and (finally) but in my black-painted stockers. They look f'ing awesome except that there's like a centimeter to half-inch gap between the edge of the housings and the body panels. Normally there's barely any gap and the projectors fit it fine and the stockers did back before I painted them. I don't know what the deal is but it looks pretty crappy, especially up close. I'm just worried rain or something is going to get in there behind the headlights and mess stuff up. Any ideas?

I'll try to take a pic later on, gotta head to work now.

Did you loosen any bolts on the fender to get the lights in/out?

Nope, just the brackets that hold the housing (and obviously putting back in the stock housings)
