Unhappy HELP! Red paint showing under the black paint!

So I bought a 2010 Cobalt SS brand new at a dealer in Tulsa, OK. Now I live in colorado and on the left rocker panel it is showing bright red under the black paint. I've been fighting with Chevy over the phone because I believe my car was damaged but the dealership here in colorado says that its standard that they put "paint to match" parts on the last model years. I call BS!!! Can someone help before I go wasting my money on an attorney? Any advice would help! I totally feel ripped off because my car was damaged. I just need to know if I'm wrong, I can handle the truth. Chevy has offered to repair it, but since there are not new "black throughout" parts available they say they can only re paint it. My car's value is the true issue.

If you sand it down well, re prime and re paint it black, you will never see that red again.

I can’t say I’ve heard of body panels getting re-painted on brand new Cobalt’s just because it was the last model year.

Cars are often painted in batches via computer controlled arms on an assembly line. The entire steel frame of the car is positively charged like a magnet just before painting so the paint sticks and then it’s baked in an oven at a few hundred degrees. That’s why the factory paint job durability can’t be matched in a body shop if it’s ever in an accident.

For an assembly line to “go back” and repaint a red car black seems awfully expensive.

the unibody and bumpers are painted seperately.

This could be possible. say they have 10 red bumpers left, and 8 red cars to build. they want to do something with the old bumpers then they would paint to match what they are building, wherever there might be a shortage of another color, in this case Black.

Im not sure if thats how it works, but i wouldnt be suprised.

all 06 and 07 Classic Silverados got 2500 HD Hoods cause they needed to move dies around to make parts for the NBS trucks. so they got a nicer hood.

theres all sorts of **** they do that we may never know.
