Knock Knock!!!???

Got the entire engine re-built after it blew up and now it is detonating anytime I accelerate under 3K rpm.

Stock tune. < I realize this COULD be the issue, but what ELSE?
Mods are Fujita CAI,
Header
High-flow cat

Inside the engine, Well here are a few:
Racing pistons
Sleeved cylinders
Every part in the engine was honed and balanced
Cometic head Gasket/studs
New oil pump
Race bearings...entire engine
All parts were Miked TO specs (not with-in)

The car feels fine while driving normal but if I floor it under 3K then it knocks really bad, I can't even excel with my cruise control with out it knocking.

Does anyone have any INTELLIGENT suggestions?

Tune Tune Tune

DO NOT floor it without a tune, you risk blowing it ..... AGAIN

Yeah man, I'd say get it tuned before you try anything else. It's something you should get done anyway, so you won't be wasting your money even if it doesn't fix the problem. (but hopefully it will)

Okay Okay, I will see if a tune fixes it but I was really thinking that since I don't have any real mods, It should not require a tune.

Where did I retard the timming? The pulley is stock and so are the injectors. Now I'm no master at cars by any means but to my knowledge I have only replaced crappy stock parts with better aftermarket parts.

I never said/though it didn't need a tune, I am just looking for OTHER possibilities. that way I can get everything in one shot friend. But thanks for repeating the same statments others have made and just adding your little flare to it.

The 1st part of this post is genuine though... WHere did the timming get retarded?

did those pistons raise your compression ratio?

The exhaust mods *could* cause the car to run a little leaner than it normally would...also, what's the CR on the pistons you got? Still 9.5:1? Let us know how it works out!

Also, the part about retarding timing - that's what the car does when it senses knock...it pulls timing as a precaution to try and prevent it. Of course the car can only pull so much, so if you're still knocking, definitely want to get it looked at.

Advanced? Advancing it WILL lean it out.

And that's even what the shop suggested.

Your car will knock even when retarding. That's that horrible sound you hear. He's not talking about detontation, which is what happens when you knock beyond the programmed limit.

well what compression pistons did you go with? if they are 10.0:1 or 10.5:1 you need to pull some timing out of that thing before it goes kaboom again

The CR on the pistons are still the stock ratios. I talked to setve-o and that is what he said to do and it makes sence.
I DO understand that the car needs a tune and I will get one. What I'm trying to do is get an oppinion from some of the more knowledgable folks on here as to if there might be anything else causing it. I would hate to put all me hopes and dreams into thinking that a tune will be a "fix-all" and then when it does not work have to buurn the car down out of pure frustration. Those that know me and what I have gone thru with this car know that it is getting to that point.
