Pissed off happenings

So yesterday I pulled into work turned off the car pulled up the ebrake and immediately noticed that it was broke the handle doesnt click at all to stay in place it just falls back down

obviously having a manual car this is big ******* problem

I went to the dealer after waking up the asscrack of dawn to hear them say well we dont have the part, big surprise there nobody ever has anything in stock these days and they say well you need a new ebrake assembly the part should be here tomo morn, then they call me back later in the day and say its on national backorder and they have no idea when it will be in

How the hell can you have such a critical part on backorder nationally, am i just supposed to drive around with no ebrake till they decide to make more

Furthermore I wonder why they are on backorder, is this just a shitty part from the factory?

Im not pleased with this car ive had it barely 6 months and 10k miles and so far ive had a timing chain tensioner replaced and now this, if im having this many problems new id hate to see what this car is going to be like long term.

I got a 2007 SS/SC in March and about 3 weeks later the Ebrake broke!
I took it in and they gave me a loaner car free of charge until mine was fixed.
I was the first person to get this loaner cuz it only had like 2 miles on it!!!
So I was paranoid driving it the whole time cuz I didn't want to break it

same exact thing happened to me back in november. They had to order the part and it was replaced under warranty. and I had my car as long and the same amount of miles as you.

This sucks man! I've had my balt a year with 10,600 and everything is fine. (Knock on wood). E-Brakes should definitely NOT be something dealers have on back order, it should always be in stock, but maybe it's not something that breaks all the time, so possibly that's why it wasn't in stock. Good luck to you though.

It is understandable (but dissapointing) that it may not be in stock, but that sucks that its on National backorder.

29k miles later it's still kickin. You do know you can place the car in reverse or first and it will hold it just the same in the mean time till the part comes in. In my experience it is best to place the ebrake in place by first pressing the button lifting then releasing not forcing it to clickity click into place. Yeah you shouldn't have to worry about that but still sometimes it's worth taking an extra step.

It's always good to have two layers of protection.

E-Brake and the car in gear (Reverse preferrable). No questions asked if it will roll away or not.

That blows... I hope they're able to fix it for you. In the meantime, do what sneaky says and put it in reverse, just don't be an idiot like me and forget that you're in gear when you turn it on!

Just park it in gear. It's a known fact the tranny will hold the car better then the e-brake.

As for national backorder bullshit, I just had my fuel rail replaced and it was on national backorder as well. Somehow, my dealer pulled one out their ass in 3-4 days.

Well the timing chain issue was just loud chattering from the valve cover

When I ran into some bitch who pulled out in front of me two months ago, the passenger side headlight was "on national backorder" and I had to drive around with a broken headlight for 3 weeks after the rest of the damage was fixed. What is it with tons of random parts for these cars being on "national backorder?"

This car has never even seen full throttle in 1st gear, the car is babied, there is no reason at all for any part failures
