Pulley Size

hey guys, I downgraded to a stock sized pulley today, and my mechanic called me saying that he got the new belt and pulley on, but said that the belt barely fit on there and he really had to struggle when doing so. I wanted to know, since the stock pulley i got was from a 4 door ss/sc would it make a difference since my car is a 2 door? its the same engine right? what reasons do you think the belt was so hard to put on? its a Dayco belt and he double checked, its the correct size. I dont want anything breaking because its a tight fit. Thanks.

The problem is, the LSJ has a smaller crank pulley than the L61/LE5(I think on LE5). So a stock belt is going to be a bitch to put on, on a stock pulley, with a stock crank pulley. Im on a 3.1, which should use a GM stage 2 belt, but I have to use a stock belt size and it damn near maxes out the tensioner. So theres you answer as to why you're having problems getting the belt to fit.

Since you said *downgraded to...* I'm assuming you had a smaller pulley before--- you sure you don't have an oversized tensioner pulley?
