Nope. I got a similar one here:

This one happened

So I did this:

Then this happened:

Your diff is shot, buy a new tranny. That looks like a pin made it's way out of a spider.

The Hahn FWD Cavy/Sunfires are in the 500hp range running awesome times at the 1/4 with stock trannies. Have been for years.

IMO it's the driver. I've seen people do the same thing with stock cars. The people on here with 350whp+ have yet to nuke a trans.

blackg85 had 411fwhp on stock clutch and tranny. the motor went before the tranny even flinched

ill disagree. had a v6 cavalier before this car, i know a lot about and have built quite a few of the getrag 282 that were behind the 2.8 and 3.1, aswell as the quad 4 ho. i know of a few guys running 350hp and 400+ ft/lb through them with a v6. also there are a lot of fiero guys that run them with v8s and they stand up. they are a very beefy tranny. even the axles in that era hed 350+ hp without issues behind a v6. i have seen diff pin failures and its caused by driver error. basicly, dont spin the tires in your fwd and diffs dont break.

yeah, all of the gears and the clutch were still working fine before I pulled it apart cuz it was leaking fluid.
Looks like a bullet went through there.

If you know sooooo much about that tranny (and the Isuzu tranny for the later on Cavs) then you will know the output shafts warped left and right. Don't tell me they hold power fine. You go ahead and tell me that there's an easy way to drive your FWD car hard and not spin the tires.

I will beg to differ. I've gone through two trannys and two stock clutches at roughly that power level. And don't say it's the way I drive please, it shouldn't matter how it's driven. If it's going to handle it, it's going to handle it. If it's not, then it won't.

So...according to you: If I drive "properly" (Aka: better then all the people with blown trannys) my tranny will have the same lifespan as if I drove it doing 6000 RPM clutch drops everytime I was in first gear?!?

Seriously.

Welding the cast aluminum caused the other damage .(You over heated it and it warped most likely)
When Ive seen that stuff welded The guy would pre heat the casting or the whole area to destress it.
Otherwise the aluminum warps to badly when it cools to quickly. Its a characteristic of the cast aluminum.

Hmmmm.....It looks as though something had to break and smack the case from the inside to chip the housing like that. Mine broke in the same general area as everyone else's has, but I also had fragments sitting outside the case as well.

Good luck finding a another tranny or purchasing a new one. I have been in this situation twice before, so I know what it's like.

I said if the tranny is going to handle it, then it's going to handle it. If it's not, then it's not. It shouldn't matter how you drive it. If it's built well enough to handle the abuse then you won't have problems. I have a friend who's 03 Cobra LIVES at the track. He has put almost 30,000 miles on it just driving to and from the track and launching it at the track running 10s, also making around 700rwhp. His stock Tremec is still in tact 100%. I have gone through two trannys in about the same time span.....

well the friggen axle is still stuck inside the intermediate shaft, but I managed to finally coax the intermediate shaft out of the tranny.
So for now, the axle and shaft sit on the garage floor and I just give em the bird every time I walk by them. Not sure how to get them apart, or even if its worth the bother.
