Starter not engaging flywheel 2005 lsj
Starter not engaging flywheel 2005 lsj
2005 cobalt ss. F23 transmission swap. So on this transmission swap the starter is not engaging the fly wheel. New starter, 12 volts to the starter, I even used a snap on torque wrench to set the specified torque and degrees. It's just not engaging onto the flywheel itself. Flywheel appears to be pretty close to the block looking in from the starter area. Spun the crank pulley and it spins. Gsts a little hard at a half a turn then breaks free, im assuming that would be due to the compression though. What could I have done wrong and what should I check before tearing it down again?
what id do is remove the starter and test it with a pair of jumper cables. watch the gear and see if its being pushed out or not, this will tell you if you have a ring gear distance issue, or if the starter is no good.
my money is on the starter, more specifically the solenoid.
