FALSE.
LSJ thermostat.

It's located on the back side of the engine, under the loop used for lifting the motor out with an engine lift, on the driver's side. Bolt closest to the egine is a PITA.

Purging once you replace the Thermostat

Is it neccesary to purge the air out of the engine once you replace the thermostat and fill it up with Antifreeze.. If so where is the purge bolt ( I think I saw it on the front rhs) is this correct. Or do you just fill the resovor up and let it do its thing?

Just fill the reservoir with Coolant... and it'll do the rest.

Thermostat Location

This is where the T-Stat is on the LSJ... PITA! Cam Position Sensor had to come off to get to one of the bolts. You might be able to get it from another angle, but I just got it out of the way. If you take the Cam Position Sensor off... make sure you have a compression tester handy because you'll have to find TDC on cylinder 4 and then line up the notches on the outside of the housing and the shaft to put the CPS back on.

My T-Stat inside gasket broke apart @ around 120k.
