transmission failure???
Long story, so I'll try to be specific and informative.
Went racing last Sunday. Basically, OTTP s2, OttP s2 mounts, Spec stage 3+ clutch and lightweight flywheel, Ingall's etd, Bwoody traction bars, OTTP 3" CAI, GM 2 pass w/ option B, and Hoosier 26 x 9.5 x 16 QPT DOT slicks. First run of the day I launched a little too hard and got 2 huge hops out of the car before I let off. Instead of just letting off I turned it into a 1-2 shift and continued my run. Get to the pits to make sure nothing was really damaged and noticed fluid dripping from both sides of trans. Source was top. Still have a little drip, but don't see from what, and think it could be just residual stuff slowly getting to the bottom of the trans where it'll drip. Told it could have been too much pressure in the hydraulic system and that it just let out some pressure near (not out of) the bleeder valve on top of tranny. Anyways, still had a normal clutch and shifter feel. No problems making several more passes. Even made 2 hour trip home at freeway speed the whole way. Went almost a week with no problems. No noticeable sounds.
Thursday, backing out of a parking stall and hear a "pop" sound as if it came from something mechanical. Car was still in reverse and the wheels suddenly locked. Clutch and shifter feel fine. Car just won't move, unless in neutral. Towed car home. Started asking some people around here some questions and heard different things ranging from linkage roll pin, to busted clutch/pressure plate, to transmission failure. Deciding to go the cheaper route I have decided to swap linkage roll pins. Following How To on here (https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/how-guide-43/how-fix-linkage-roll-pin-transmission-102830/), I'm down to the part where I just need to swap the roll pins. However, I can't get the old ones to budge.
Question 1, am I wasting my time on the roll pins? Could it be a larger, and more costly problem?
Question 2, If the only way to find out that it is something bigger is to replace the roll pins and see if they work, then move on from there, Do you have any suggestions on how to get them to budge? I've tried everything for almost 4 hours.

It sounds like tranny failure. the leak is probably a cracked bell housing and it locked up the gears due to lack of lubracation. when roll pins break the linkage seperates from the housing and if the pins and linkage are still connected they are fine. start looking for a trans. I blew my trans at the track 2 years ago and havent raced since these cars drivetrains are ****!
it wont there is a TSB from GM stating a cracked bell housing causing trans or cluth failure is a result of abuse and not considerd a defect in workmenship or the part, your out of luck bud sorry.
Well, hopefully my luck rubs off on you. This happened to me and was covered. https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/lounge-42/engagement-disaster-w-pics-209128/

Just spoke to a friend out here, also a member on here. He's got some experience with transmissions. Says it's a hydraulic issue. Told me to shift into every gear without pushing in the clutch. It went fully in. LIkely not a cracked housing. Likely explains the leak too. He says I should be able to bleed the system and drive it to a shop.

If it was a linkage roll pin, then it would be stuck in only 1 gear. And the shifter wouldn't slide into any gear. It would be stuck just going back and forth, loose, it wouldn't move side to side. And the only way to get it in neutral would be to press the clutch in.
I'm sorry to say, but those 2 big hops probably broke your trans, or severely damaged it and it broke a couple weeks later.
Where did you launch at that you got such big hops? That's really weird seeing that you got OttP s2 mounts and slicks. I Never EVER hopped on my slicks and I was on the damn STOCK mounts.

Yes. Tranny is now pulled. Cracked bell housing. Also discovered the clutch pipe became unseated. Working theory is that the clutch pipe allowed a leak to occur, preventing the slave cylinder from pushing in the pressure plate completely, not allowing the clutch to completely disengage and allow for proper shifting, thereby causing unnecessary stress on transmission internals, which lead to cracking the bell housing. We'll see how this ends up. Dealership is unable to disect tranny because they do not have the proper tools for the 06-07 MU3 transmission. According to the tech, there is a difference compared to the 04-05 MU3. 06-07 require some different/additional tools.

Both problems sound like due to wheelhop, dont really overthink it cause either way you look at it wheelhop caused both problems. fix the car and sell it and get a decent drag car. sorry to here it was the worse case senario. good luck!

It gets better. I was just informed today that I get a new tranny under warranty. Only have to pay the $100 deductible. I also decided to swap to the GMP clutch kit.
wow you got lucky. REAL lucky. i was ready to LMAO when they denied ur warranty due to all ur aftermarket stuff. hope u at least remembered to clean the numbers from the strip off ur windows LOL.

Nope. Numbers still on window, and so is the express tech sticker.
Not really. I pulled anything that would have to do with racing off my car such as stickers, brochures, schedules, window chalk bottle, razor blades, etc. I even washed the car to remove the tiny bits of rubber from my slicks from doing burnouts in the water box before the tow truck arrived. I said the wash was to remove all the pollen, which was true too. Besides, my tranny didn't totally fail until I was backing out of a parking stall at 7-11 4 days later.
