Hi guys,
Just successfully installed a new vibrant mid-length header to dp gasket, the triangle one. There is excess gasket material designed into the gasket that sticks out the sides of the flange (see image below, red circled parts), this is of course shiny as can be silver when installed.
Now, I just got back from breaking it in, zero leaks, works perfectly. However, after 4 hours of spirited driving, I notice that the shiny silver is quite dark, not quite burnt, but dark brown nonetheless. Is this normal wear-in? Or am I headed to a burn out for whatever reason (there's no leak at all)?
Great, thank you! I am very paranoid, but all the signs of the leak are gone. First thing I noticed was the absence of exhaust fumes, so refreshing. On the butt dyno, I noticed more HP top end, keep in mind I had a huge leak at the header/dp, therefore I wonder if I had no backpressure and I'm now beneftitting from proper levels of back pressure and vacuum from the header?
