RAW intake causing the P0171 code?

Just installed the RAW 3" CAI and now I am throwing this code. If you read in the problems and service section of this forum, you'll see a sticky on the P0171 CEL. It states the following:

This CEL is set also when the LTFT is above 20% in any of the trim cells. Usually it means your MAF isn't registering all the air passing by it, either you have a leak or the intake messed up the air flow enough so the MAF isn't registering all the air passing by, like oil on the maf, ect.
Does this sound like anything that can be caused by the intake?? Just wondering....

I've never heard of any RAW intakes throwing that code.... although it is very possible.
I'd be willing to bet, that one of the pipes wasn't fully seated into the coupler, and it's pulling non-metered air.

How is it fixed with tuning? Did you just disable the code?

Could this code cause any engine problems or anything?

as mentioned we have never had any of our intakes throw a code.

I would check all your connections first, you can also spray some brake cleaner around the intake to see if you have a leak. If the car bogs, you have a leak.

LTFT being off isn't anything new with installing aftermarket components. Basically the car thinks things are off (more air flow) and wants to adjust. It basically compares your maf reading to what it's getting through the narrow band o2 sensor. It will not affect anything as your narrow band will do the adjusting, just means your car won't be as smooth regular driving.

A tune will fix this.
With any new components a tune is always recommended, complimented with a A/F gauge.
