Like I said before there is enough "whoring" ish posts in the tech section. You can't really get a true measure of anything even if the post counting scheme is changed!

Maybe we should just give awards for giving the right answer?! I mean seriously, how else are you going to REALLY show that a member know much about what they are saying?

well, if yellowshobalt, or Adam, or blown_4_banger, gave me advice, i wud take it. y? because they've all done various mods, themselves, and are knowledgeable. also, i know Halfcent isn't giving a wrong answer, bc he is a mod. idk, being ACTIVE i know who i can listen to n who I can't just from guys i have convos with.

That is not a good idea to assume he knows what he is talking about just because he is a mod. (I'm not saying he isn't smart)

But that is as bad as assuming b/c I have 20,000 posts I know what I'm talking about.

You should trust someones opinion based on the content of there Technical posts.

 

well a mods job should be to help out in someway. either giving information, or pointing them in the right direction. ya know? thats the only reason why i stated that. we're all here to help out someway.

 

Ok, so why would we hide post count and/or not count lounge/dungeon posts?

You are going to have bullcrappers with 387942 posts and you are going to have bull crappers with 2.

It is a public internet forum and no my post count isn't that important to me...but why should people who talk to one another through here be regarded to as people who don't know?

That is the general idea I get from hiding post count.

If it did go through...it would be the first internet forum I have ever seen to rise to that level of ridiculous

I like the idea of that. But I like to have it for buying purchases from people here. I get weary when a guy only has like 5 posts and selling stuff. its different if they have been on here awhile and didnt post.

I voted for posts not counting in the lounge/dungeon. This is how the GTO forum works and it is great......

 

you should add another option for "who gives a ****"

 

people who care about post counts need to go to a different site.

 

dont count lounge or dungeon posts. and for those that have whored it up in the past, deduct those numbers from the user's current post count.

So what I have a lot of posts?! Most are from chatting, whatever! Not like I get paid per post.

 

I don't know that they should be hidden, but I wish there was some kind of a rule against making someone feel inferior because their post count is smaller. I don't get the point of a post count, honestly. Maybe just a join date, 'rank stars' or something.

Kinda funny how so many threads get locked to save server space while whoring is allowed
and encouraged by showing post numbers and making usless threads to do it in.

 

We don't lock threads to save space, we lock threads because there are already discussions about the topic.

"whoring" is only allowed in the dungeon, and it isn't even a ***** thread, its a random chat thread, the object of the thread isn't to get your count up, its to have somewhere to go and chat.

it even states in the first post of the thread:

Honestly Who cares? I mean look at it this way:

If you have alot of posts then you probably help out alot on this site or something along those lines or you do alot of whoring but most of the time the whoring goes on in the dungeon anyway... so only the premis get that benefit...

but i mean yes sometimes it does prove if your a newb or not if you dont have alot of posts.... you have to think about what kind of posts are they and are they usable and intelligent..

We don't have a chat room, and when we did it sucked...

No history, no pictures, goes too fast, cant keep track of convos. With a thread, you can come in and say hey, then go back whenever someone else posts.

Post count means nothing more then you post...
