Random puffs of smoke keep happening..

Next up new valve seals, lash adjusters, and rocker arms.... I have a weird noise upon start up that is coming from the head and I am thinking I have a dead lash or something. While I am in there for the seals I thought I might as well replace the lash adjusters and rockers. Hope all this fixes the damn smoke and enigine noise.

The thing is I want to replace all that stuff but I just got the prices

265$ for the rockers
200$ for the lash adjusters
50$ for the valve seals

I need to check the exhaust runners for oil, if its present I will replace the seals for sure... I want to get sure because I will more than likely need to pull the head... Which adds another 100$ for the head gasket.

Wife wont let me buy all of that right now. I need to pay some attention to her car before mine again...

Oh and Nick I tried getting the wife to let me trade you and she asked is this stuff really needed for the car or is it just an upgrade that is not needed to make and you just want it.. I said no its just a deal of a life time and I want it... She said no.. Damn being married! haha I really want the parts too!

Why are we starting children nick? lmao

You're going to be very proficient in the valve train Chris

Do you has a compressor?

I have taken my head apart a few times. Obviously when I built the car, then when I took the aftermarket cams out, then again to change the stock cams again. Also a bunch of times for a re time...

Yes I have a compressor. Only thing I need to find is my damn adjustable wrench so we can turn the cams.

Also, if we end up taking the head off, what are you going to do about the head gasket? Should it be changed?

lol oh! the ecotec one no.. That thing is expensive. haha I have one used for mitsu's and made it work for our cars. That is why the head may need to come off, its not exactly perfect so the spring shifts a bit which could push the valve down... Does anyone have that compressor around here? Can we maybe rent it?

Since he has a cometic he doesnt need to replace it?

Well hopefully it works so we don't have to pull the head. That's a huge pita maybe as your compressing, somone can hold the valve shaft on the bottom with some small needle nose? That way you still have room to compress and get the locks out?

Possibly but from what I remember to get the keepers on the spring had to compressed a good amount.. I mean it doesnt do it every time its just way easier with the head off. Believe me I dont want to take the head off at all! haha We'll figure it out.

Steve, are you coming along?

Alright cool.

I have to go by Autozone today to buy a new WB sensor. Mine took a crap on my LC-1... I will look at their compressor tools and see if one "could" work. Its a long shot but have to check.

I would think somewhere like napa would have one..

Try Napa.I work for Autozone. The only one I saw yesterday is one you would use on a small block/big block chevy that clamps on the outside and you twist the top.I don't think our heads have enough room for that one to fit.Napa may carry a slim one?

You can roll along.

I can pull your tune but it will be no good because I need to still unlock your ECU with my HPT which is 100$.. So if you have your HPT by then I can pull it with yours, write the tune, and load it. Doing it with mine is a waste of money since you have 8 credits with the HPT.
