Lemme dig through the parts forum so I can see what a fair price is for them & I'll get back to you.

*EDIT* Just had a thought... You said that you have a buddy that does paint right? Maybe we can work something out with that.

On the road

Well, I got the Balt put back together & on the road about a week ago & I figured that I should post up some pics so you guys could see how I did. The front bumper still needs to be painted professionally - I just rattle canned it for my trip to L.A. because my ego wouldn't allow for it to have a black front on the trip...

I will probably end up replacing the back bumper since my skills at welding plastic leave much to be desired & the crease in the middle didn't come out:

I'm new to the Cobalt world - does the SS N/A come with 18's?

Thanks brother, it feels pretty good & blisters the tires if I'm not careful - I definitely have to get used to the difference between SC & TC... It's not as fast & doesn't haandle quite as well as some of the Eclipses that I've put together, but I'm pretty happy with the car so far. It also has already proven itself on a road trip - the same day that I got it finished & registered, I drove it to L.A., putting about 1000 miles on it - I was definitely happy with the 30mpg it got too.

Ok, I'll bite, why do I owe you a front bumper?

Aren't 2.4 and 2.0 front bumpers the same minus the lip? I could be wrong, much of my knowledge has left me over the years.

To the OP, ss/na cars came with 17" wheels, but are almost identical in design to the 18" ss/sc wheels.

You are correct - the SS/NA & SS/SC/TC front bumpers are the same except for the slots cut for the front lip - in the first couple of pics, if you look closely, you can see the slots. When I bought the bumper cover, it was factory black - thus the rattle can treatment & the easy Evo mod.

I haven't put the lip on yet because the one that I was able to find is the factory blue, so I was going to get it painted at the same time as the bumper cover. But I have also been toying with the idea of painting the sides & rear lip in the same factory blue to match, for a subtle 2-tone effect.

Yeah, if you refer back to the pics I posted after bringing it home, or even the first ones I posted, you can see that the original front bumper cover was trashed & the lip wasn't even on it. Luckily, I was able to salvage the grill, so I saved a few bucks there.

I was told that the rims were actually from a Malibu SS, but from what I have been able to gather, the Malibu SS, Cobalt SS/SC and HHR share the same 18" rims. If there is a difference, it's subtle enough that I can't tell. When I bought the car was outfitted with a mismatched set of 17's.

I was pretty stoked when I came across the ones on the car for $200. To make the deal even sweeter, the seller of the wheels was the guy that used to own my car, so he hooked me up with the spare tire, jack and keychain remote. He also works at the dealership & was fanatical about maintaining the car - he had just clay barred & waxed it the day he got rear ended in it...

That makes sense then.

The SS S/C wheels are 18" and have a smoked (dark tinted) finish, while the SS N/A came with 17" polished wheels, and the Malibu SS came with 18" polished wheels.

Thanks! It was a lot of work, but definitely worth it.

No frame work - although there is still some damage underneath in the rear that needs to be pulled out.

The spare tire well is pretty messed up still & if you look closely in the pics, you can see that the trunk lid sits down about a 1/4 inch lower than it should from the metal being pushed in behind the bumper cover. It opens & closes just fine though.

I'll take some more pictures later from inside the trunk to show what still needs to be taken care of.

Hmmm... I thought that the 2007 didn't have the gunmetal wheels.
