Need HELP. Installing coilovers
Need HELP. Installing coilovers
Hey guys. Need some quick help. Hoping one of you can. I'm putting in coilovers and can't get this damn bolt off from the front strut. It just spins freely, I used a regular wrench and impact wrench. How do I get it off?? It doesn't seem to spin in the rear of the bolt.
Thanks
Thanks
Hammer it out... use a drift if necessary edit: miss read what bolt you where talking about lol. Try a pair of good square jaw vise grips just behind where the stud goes through the strut and heat the nut then use the impact gun in spirts. If that's dosent work... like the guy below said and cut them off and buy new ones

first try to push it back while at the same type using an impact, if that doesn't work you'll probably have to cut the bolt with a saw-saw. i highly recommend upgrading to shortened FE5 Moog endlinks either way thou

look in the stance thread dude, we already answered you...
use a vice grip on the end of the stud with enough room to thread some of the nut off, then use open ended wrench and hold the vice grips!

^^^ that's a Not so smart idea. Way to screw the threds and way to screw the nut coming off.
take a pair of long nose vise grips to the back side of the sway bar link between the boot and the strut bracket and an impact gun or wrench.

The back of the bolt he nut is on is just a ball inside the rubber housing. It can be pulled off and then you can put vice grips on it as I did. Completely destroys the part but it gets it off. This is what I did to my car and it worked fine.
nice attitude. replacing them or not its a bad habit to teach someone
normally you need to reuse the nuts.... so lets see here....screw threads(check), screw nut because of screwed up threads(check), cut off nuts and threads(check if you have something to do it), a big headache(check)
op.... I forget the size off hand but usually an 18mm wrench(atleast on the lnf) and a allen key make quick work of it... if it still doesn't budge then try the impact gun with a vice grip on the back side.

Exactly why you just say **** it and cut them. Moog is a good upgrade.
Youdon't grab the back of the nut you grab the the back of the endlink next to the metal bracket. I do this every time and iI never have issues.
yeah forgot stock doesnt have the allen keys
