Great guys, you are fast on the draw. I figured it was best to swap them all at once. I figure he will have this car for a long time (I hope) so it will be best to do this stuff right the first time.
I will keep reading and learning. I think it will be a great car for him. His mom has driven it for a year or so and no problems we just want it better...
Again thanks
Dave

Reading on here sure points me to the YYZ springs. We want to lower it some but he still needs to daily drive it. These may be a bit higher but it appears the quality is above all.
That said can we get away with using his 90,000 mile FE1 suspension or will that just cause us more problems in the long run. We don't have a lot to spend but I am thinking Christmas (plus birthday plus...) we will be working on this together and have the necessary tools and he will learn as we go.
These springs seem to be where we want to go.
Again thanks for the informative site and yes I will need to continue to search thru all this great info.
Dave
Welcome Dave! I think it's great that you're working on the car together with your son! I'm jealous, having a 20-yr old daughter myself, I mostly work on my own Cobalt by myself
You've certainly found the place to get all the information on the car, lots of knowledgeable folks on here whether on stock stuff or highly modified.
When it comes to great upgrades at very reasonable prices, check out the Powell thread here: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/gene...powell-296456/
Good luck and happy modding!

im thinkin i may have to see what these YYZ's are all about. ive have sportlines and boy after about 3 months, the ride was terrible!! i just DD my car, maybe 1/4 mile it but the ride sucks!

i have PRS CAB's and lower engine mount just waiting to be installed (cars parked for the winter)

would i have to worry about blowing out the stock struts with the small drop of the YYZ v3's?

They'll actually last longer with yyz's than with sportlines since its a lot harder to bottom out the shock and strut due to higher spring rates on the yyz's

I'll be doing a review on yyzs soon in comparison to sportlines. Yyz springs are so much better. It will raise you about 1/4in front 3/4in rear but no regrets here. Much better/enjoyable ride quality

The sport lines were cool for about 2 months but after that it was terrible.

You mean they lower your car a 1/4" in the front and 3/4" in the rear?

I just got an email back from Gloria so I should be purchasing them today or monday.

Sorry, that was compared to the sportlines. They'll lower the car more than that, that was the comparison for sportlines to yyz v.3. It's a good buy & they ship em fast

Ok. I guess I should have picked up on that.

Im def going to order them just waiting for gloria to email me back so I can send her my info.

I've been looking at lowering my car for a couple of years now and all the positive reviews I've heard about the YYZ's, I'm super excited to get these things!

Guna have a nice little parts pile for spring time

You can expect it to look like this. YYZ springs and Koni's with XXX rear swaybar and lots of other Powell goodies, so worth it.

just perfect IMO. im picking up a OTTP hardcore bar or whatever they are called, from a local guy.

clover leaf's are going to be my bitch this summer lol

didnt get an email back from gloria about a purchase method but there still 40 inches of snow on the ground so i have plenty of time.

ive been reading through this thread a little bit. what are the random squeeks people are hearing? and why do some people put a cut hose over a few of the coils on the spring?

will i have any problems with the bump stops? i just want a easy install without any problems.

the dead coils can make noise. I have yet to get it. we will be supplying some simple conduit wrap in the near future for folks who need it.

do NOT cut the bump stops, please.

Gloria and I were both slammed today. eventually everybody gets a reply lol or email me and I will be reminded.

Never had an issue with the dead coils making any noise. Having the springs out last week even after what snow and salt they've been through they still have perfect powder coated finish with no signs or rust.
