Ok i dont get it...the demand is there and people are willing to pay good money for a 2.2L tune why the **** isn't there one out yet? I mean come on how much business is being lost here? At least some companies had the ***** to use a piggy back yet no one has come up w/ a reflash in what 3 ******* years!!!!

cost vs demand.
its just business.
there just simply arent enough 2.2 owners who will ACTUALLY LAY DOWN MONEY (this is important)
to pay for the cost of producing the product, when there are so many other vehicles....waiting for tuning, that DO have alot more.
you have to realise too, that theres alot of people who will say "I want tuning!!" but would never lay down the $700 to buy the product.

If they didnt have the money to buy a 2.4 or 2.0 for an extra hundred or so in payments... how much are they going to have to drop on a $700 computer program, that will basically need another few hundred bucks in mods to be useful?
Im sorry if that sounds mean, but its the reality of it.
i might get flamed for this....and it may sound harsh, but im going to tell you what goes through a business owners mind with 2.2 parts.

any vendor who thinks that can shove it up their ass....just IMHO
even though im sure it aint gonna happen hp tuners told me they was workin on the tune for the 2.2's and told me to check back in march.. this was just over a month ago they told me this.. maybe its bullshit maybe its not.. i really dont know but imma check back with em sometime in march to find out.. believe i really want the tuning too and the reason i didn't get any type of ss is cuz they didnt have one on the lot and said it would be months before they did.. i paid justa bout as much for my lt as an ss cost too.. my lt has almost everythin they can come with..

I have more then enough income to drop parts into a 2.2 and want to do so, but I totally understand your point. The one or two exceptions out there aren't where the money is at. Meh.
Well I may be the only one in this situation, but I make over 50k a year, I just fucked my credit up really bad so I can't get a loan for anything really nice. I got the LS because it worked with the financing I was approved for (which is daylight rapeage, but its just to make payments for a year and then refi or get something nicer).

only thing im disapointed about though even the "cost vs demand" is that the 2.2 engine has SOO MANY AFTERMARKET PARTS FOR IT READY TO GO. the 2.4 has a very LIMITED aftermarket and its #'s were even less then 2.2 owners. so to say that about the cobalts is wrong in itself.
i mean the 2.2's had cams before the 2.4 or 2.0 and the 2.2's cams are the most reliable compared to the others. and thats because of the cavi but it doesnt matter, lots of 2.2 owners over the past 3 years have come and gone from that list of tuneing fanatics.
a lot of 2.2 owners bought their cars with the knowledge that the 2.2 ecotec is a very potent engine where most buyers just see the gm buildbook saying 1000+ ecotec and they think the 2.2 is the engine to start with and make just some of that power. but hey call me crazy

didn't alpine do it for you??? bench tuning your car FTL
for the people posting in this thread, are you ready to give money tomorrow? this happens all the time, just like in any group buy. hundreds of people say "yea, i want it and i'll pay". but, when it comes time to pay, it's "well, i don't get paid till next week". or "i have to pay a ticket first". bottom line is, that 20 people that "say they'll pay" does not show interest. anyone that's not on this site that owns a 2.2 is an old man or an old woman. there's not a large enough market audience that WILL actually buy and/or pay for tuning.

belive me i make around 50k a year to and money aint the real problem.. i would just perfer to use a tune than to use a piggy for reliablilty for the most part.. and the main reason the 2.2 for our cars dont have a tune is cuz it takes a lot of their time to crack our ecm's.. even though the 2.2 is what the 2.0 and 2.4 came from we have a completely different ecm and its only in a few different vehicles and only a limit amount of years so i really do understand why they havent really bothered messin with our cars..

i like how everyone ignores my post,

my point is that tuneing should be out regardless. i can lay down the money as well. and some of us have car clubs with HPT cables and i would just buy the credits for the 100 bucks to unlock my car. doi

yes... when you see a base cobalt, look at who is driving. it's the truth bro. the vast majority of base cobalts are either rental cars, or belong to old people.
again, DON'T TAKE THIS THE WRONG WAY i'm not knocking the car at all. i'm just trying to help you see it from a companies point of view. 20 people that would actually pay for tuning when the time comes does not justify someone spending hundreds of hours and shitloads of money to crack a system. like any business, they're going to go after the cars that are easy, and have a market for them.
