Evo kill, LS1 death
I ran across a couple of rice-rockets this weekend in Iceland this weekend. I beat them pretty good but none of them were really noteworthy enough to merit a story.
I did, however run across an evo who wanted to line up. The usual setup, find a dark empty Icelandic road, three honks and go. We lined up twice, this is how it went:
First race we lined up and on the third honk 5 roll I took off about half a car out. I slowly walked out in second gear and in third he started to catch until he shifted then dropped back some. Shut down at about 110 with him about 1-1.25 cars back.
Second race same thing. We pulled out at about 5 and I spun. Said forget it and hit second gear, spun the clutch, half-throttled, hit it again and spun clutch....shift to third. Maybe I can still catch him...spun clutch....off throttle....punch...clutch burn......schidt.
Stop. He stopped next to me and asked what happened, "I think I just killed my clutch.."
I launch hard from a stop(not racing anyone this time), clutch grabs and goes...hit second...perfect, hit third, perfect...WTF? Whatever. Ok. We'll just go home. Hey at least I beat him the first time.
So the next day after eating a nice plate of fermented shark meat(It's Icelandic, look it up), I ran across an '02 Camaro SS with intake, headers, exhaust, suspension and a California tune. Nice guys. We found a spot and:
only one run, I got an ok launch and was feathering throttle out of the hole. Mistake on my part because I had traction and my clutch wasn't slipping. I could have gone faster...however the result would have probably been pretty close to the same.
Hit second and he's stuck back there. maybe he gains an inch. I hit third and he starts pulling like a freight train.......aaaannnd....damn, he passed me. Bloody heck-monsters. Oh well. It was still fun. I like Iceland. I may go back.

See, I bought a personal jumbo jet because I thought it would be cheaper than one of those tiny private jets that can't hold a car. Maintenance and fuel cost more than I expected and now all I can afford to drive is a Cobalt SS.

I'll hop in my completely real and totally not made-up personal jumbo jet and check out venezuela in a couple weeks. See, and part of it, also, is that i have to pay import fees for the car and go through customs. It's pretty hectic going through that every weekend...in real life and not my imagination.
