evo x vs ss/tc
I dont hate cobalts. Theyre a great car for the money, and a solid DD tuner for people on a budget. If the LSJ I bought wasnt such a lemon I probly would still have it and been running the full GM stage 3 kit with cams and 8k redline. Unfortunately I couldnt stand all the bullshit that started breaking and I decided to cut my losses and traded for an 01 cobra. The cobalt has a LOT of potential, however we have to be realistic. I cant stand people that think the cobalt is the end all ( fanboi ) of any car. Too many people on here get a big head because they pulled an otherwise stock car with their modded balt. Most of the war stories are a joke, and usually start with " YO MAN! I GOTZ A TUNE ONLY STOCK COBALT YO AND I PULLED A STOCK CAMARO SS YO!" Firstly, what ******* retarded fanboi newb says "tune only" and "stock" in the same ******* sentence? Secondly, the LS series is a superior engine PERIOD. I can guarantee a minor bolt on camaro ss would crush a "tune yo!" SS/TC. So seriously, 99.9999% of these roll racing ricer stories are a ******* joke.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree on the best tuner part. I honestly cant think of any other sport compact that can do all the cool stuff an evo can do, and this is why I like it best. AWD is by far the most fun and versatile platform I have ever driven, and I have driven both FWD and RWD.

I will also agree that awd is the most fun **** ever. i can't wait until it snows. awd donuts for the WIN. i too looked at some ss/tc's when i was getting a little bored with cobalt, but i opted for the evo instead. so far, no regrets whatsoever. it's nice having 4 doors and awd. i dont necessarily enjoy the 16mpg city/20mpg hway i get, but i didn't buy the evo for fuel economy.
No matter how fast your car is, somebody has one that's faster. it's good to take pride in your ride, make it look nice, make it fast, etc. but if everyone would just do what i do in a group of people and take the "my car sucks" attitude, nobody would get cocky and act stupid. I loved getting compliments on my cobalt, and i love getting them about my evo, but i've never looked down on someone or talked mad ****. I like my car, and that's all that counts. I don't have to prove anything to anyone.
I especially love the people that hate on my evo for it being an X. people either love it or hate it. this one guy told me my car was a piece of **** and i should have gotten a IX. I told him that the X is nicer, handles better, and is safer. I also told him that if he doesn't like it, don't buy one. He gave me more **** about it, and i told him to stick his rusty, tackily modded neon sxt up his ass, and keep his comments to himself. I love how people get so offended by things that aren't theirs. like it matters.
You make some good points. I cant stand the people that talk mad **** about what their cars can do....because in the end...who cares? I beat quite a few cars i probably shouldn't have when i had my cobalt. I was never cocky about it. I knew my car was pretty damn quick, especially considering most people just think the cobalt ss is a cavalier, but i never got big headed about it. The cobalts have proven over and over that with minor mods, they pull like crazy from a roll, and many a "better" car have been beaten by cobalts...but again, so what? i had ottp stage 1 and boltons on my cobalt, and my brother's modded LS2 gto wouldn't pull on me until about 75-80mph, but then it was over after that. Was i impressed that the goat couldn't pass my cobalt until 80? hell yes! but you also never saw me on the forums saying "OMGZ i DESTROYED a 6L GTO." he still raped me on top speed. even in my evo, i get a car length on him until about 80mph, and then he walks me. oh well, not a big deal.

I see this feud between 1Bad and superchargedss, and i want to choose sides, but i'm too lazy to read the other pages of this thread. maybe i will, i like taking sides.
X is faster around a road course than the IX. the mitsu pro test drivers beat their record IX times in the X on their own track. for a 300 pound heavier car, the X handles better and pulls .99 G. IX is a touch faster in the 1/4 stock to stock. with just boltons, the X makes more power untuned, mainly due to the mivec on the intake AND exhaust side.
same thing can be said about a civic hatch found in a junk yard...so what's your point? anything can be fast if you put enough money into it. 10k for a hatch shell, swap, and boost, and it will beat 99% of the cars in existence. the evo represents more money, more status i suppose, but both cars are great tuning platforms.
from this post, you just became as ignorant as all these evo/rsx owners. you slap a turbo kit and suspension on ANY car, and it will beat just about anything else. also, unless your suspension is hella built, an evo pulls more G's that a cobalt can. not that it's leaps and bounds ahead, but the numbers speak for themselves. any car can beat any other car if you have the money, the time, and you can drive.
egh, are u sure about that? The primary complaint of the X owners is the fact that mitsu is moving away from the rally base into a more comfortable cruiser that doesnt handle quite as good.
When it comes to drag racing, I think minor bolt ons the X wins. In the twists, Im pretty sure the IX is a touch better.

I decided to go ahead and read the previous posts. at first, 1Bad was accused of being a douche before he actually did anything. I think 1Bad was unfairly attacked first, and then the fire just got fed from there. But i digress.
There is no "best tuner car for the money." all you can do is give your opinion, and back it up with facts. when i justify my decision to buy an evoX, i go by NEW CAR PRICES. yes, i know you can get a supra, cobra, corvette, GTO, older evo, older STI, etc used for under 25k....and many of those choices are "better" than a cobalt. being able to buy something awesome that's used is irrelevant. I go buy what is available brand new, sitting in a dealership right now. the cobalt is the fastest, best handling car for under 25k, and can be made crazy fast for cheap. this is fact. no other car touches its performance in the price range. but...a cobalt can't do cheaply what evo's can out of the box. there is crazy potential in the evo platform, and 19 years of research, design, experience, and aftermarket support in them. the evo is the "honda civic" of $30k+ 4 cylinder tuner cars, simply because of its age.
I also absolutely loved my cobalt, and thought about upgrading to an ss/tc. I opted not to because where i live, awd would really come in handy in winter and such. i just couldn't justify putting up the money for something that was essentially the same as what i had already had for the past 2.5 years. I was looking for something different. I decided that the next car i got was going to be a 4 cylinder, manual, and awd. my choices at that point were very slim, mainly due to the awd. i refuse to drive a hatch, so the new sti was out of the question as well. i was left with the evoX as my only choice, and i couldn't be happier. no, it's not a PERFECT vehicle, but it's pretty sweet. my evo rattles more than my cobalt did, it doesn't have auto dimming rearview mirror, or auto headlights. but my cobalt didn't have HID projectors, or awd. i also get 12mpg less on the highway with my evo. there is no PERFECT car, you just have to decide what you want, make a decision based on what you want, and go from there. I dont hate on any car, regardless of how much i may dislike it. i really do miss my cobalt, as it was a hell of a lot of car for 22k, but the evo is something completely different, and i love every second of it.
There's a difference between conflicting opinions, and people attacking eachother in posts. it's stupid. he thinks evos are better, so he bought one...other people think cobalts are the best car in the world, whatever. a lot of people dont like the new evox, but i love mine. if everyone liked the same thing, we would all be driving corollas, that's why there are so many choices, colors, styles, motors, brands, etc. I wouldn't necessarily agree with 1BAD that the evo is the best tuner platform ever, because it depends on what you consider important in a car. I will say however, that brand new, i think the evo X is the best car you can buy in that price range, just like the cobalt is the best performance choice in the sub 25k range.
