funny kill....my kid did it
And you kid is how old?
Big difference racing your kid when he is in his 20s+ and racing your kid when he is 16 and just learning how to drive.
No ones saying street racing is bad as most if not all of us have done it at least once. M\e being one of them but I also know its way safer racing at a track. No one is even saying street racing with your kid is bad.
It’s when you are teaching your kid to street race when he just got his license or permit when it’s a horrible and stupid idea. I would say 99.9% of 16-25 year olds are stupid as **** and don’t think about anything. I’m in that age bracket but I am MUCH MUCH more careful than any one I know. Being in and around fast cars and being taught to respect what they are since before I could drive made me more responsible. Most parents throw the keys to a kid and tell them to be careful. If the kid gets a ticket they might lose the car for a week hell maybe nothing happens. In my house it was one ticket or accident that is my fault my car would be sold. My parents didn’t mess around either; my car would have been gone with in a week.
As some one already posted Nick Hogan is a prime example of a stupid ass kid with stupid ass parents. They never taught him right from wrong and when or where the right time to do these things was. I don't care how old he was he was a stupid inexperienced driver. Just because he was a so called “drifter” (which he sucked at) was because daddy was famous. He had no track experience what so ever whether it was drifting or drag racing. He did this **** on the street because he knew he could get away with it because of who his dad was.
He didn't care where he raced, who was around him or how fast he was going and where he wrecked at is a prime example of what I mean. He was going over 80mph (in a 40mph zone) on a busy downtown street on wet roads after he had been drinking. That’s a bad idea in any car let alone a 700rwhp Supra. Why would he even think of doing this? Because he is Hulk Hogan’s son.
He is a picture of what John (Nick's Passenger) looks like today.
Oh by the way it was reported by numerous witnesses he was street racing a silver viper. Guess who owns a Silver Viper...... Hulk Hogan.

Gabe was 16 when I had him drag racing at the strip, by 18 he ran a 11 and trapped 125mph, by 20 he had a 550hp street driven srt... let him race the GTO but only when it was running low 14's...
in fact here is a video of one of our street races:

Your son basically has the same racing experience I have. I was in the 13s at 16, 12s at 17, 11s at 18 and 10s at 19. I'm still in the 10s mostly because I'm done pumping money into the GT and want to start saving up to do something wild for the Shelby.
You had him at the track at 16 which is the most important thing to do. If kids want to street race that’s where they need to go to at least learn how to handle the car and what to expect out of it. I know racing at the track always kept/keeps my urge to street race down too.
Still didn't answer my question though.. How old was he when you were street racing with him? At any age I'm sure he had more experience and common sense than the OP or his kid.
Gabe had a low 17 second SXT Neon that I bought him at 16.... and we would sometimes street race on the way to the track.... however, one couldn't really tell when his stocker neon was floored... It trapped lower 70's at our high altitude..
Here he is when we got him a SRT and he ran mid 13's in a stock SRT with my drag radials, as I stand (in the Betty Boop Jacket) watching.... In my house, a good 60ft was just as important as a good report card... (maybe even more so..)
If he missed a shift or bog'd a launch or slept at the tree did he get a ass chewing...
